Peterpools
I have a contest question regarding the IPMS NAT Contest Categories. I’ve read the rules and am not sure where the following model would/should go: The Fisher AD Skyraider conversion of the Trumpeter kit. While a conversion, the rules say such ‘commercial conversions’ are at a disadvantage to conversions accomplished by scratch building and really not recommended to be enteted in the conversion category. The only other category would be as suggested: stratchbuilt & conversion but the same applies. So my question: is there a contest category for such a conversion that it can compete fairly on the quality of the work done or not entering, as it will be playing second fiddle to scratch conversions. smitty44
Peter, all I know is that in Omaha the aircraft Best of Show was a 1/48th scale Privateer conversion done with Cutting Edge resin. I wouldn't even imagine they would get to the type of conversion it was until they got past all the "basics"

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted August 16, 2018 Administrators Share Posted August 16, 2018 It can be entered in the regular 1/32 prop class. Nothing’s stopping you from doing that. It’s what I intend with my Guppy conversion and Israeli Bf-109.

Seriously, next year will be P-51B for sure and Kingfisher as well if time allows. 2020 will be either RCAF Canso or USN Catalina. And that 1/48 scale PB4J-2 was a truly flawless and stunning build build.
