I really feel for you Harv, I've been through it twice and I know it's not any fun, just fill the days and do stuff that you enjoy, I even made out a wish list of all the stuff that I had always wanted or wanted to do.
One of those wish list items was to be able to buy a 1/48 Tamiya Lancaster and a 1/32 Matchbox Spitfire 22/24, the latter I had lusted after every morning as it was in the shop window of my local newsagents shop and I used to pass it on my way to work. This restarted my adventures of building scale models which continues to this day.

Nice summary, I do like the early Allison Mustangs, shame they are so neglected by the mainstream model makers.

Coming along nicely, I've always wanted to build an RAF early mustang, but as usual too little time too many kits.

Looking good, that Quinta set looks like a vast improvement on what is in the box.

That looks pretty amazing, I will have to investigate the Quinta options on my next Spitfire build.

Most impressive work, I don't think that I would have the patience for those cables, especially as they won't be seen.

Now that is a really great build, and would certainly generate some interesting conversations.

It's great to see a Spitfire being built and this one is going together well, I was surprised to see the warning notice on the air bottles, as this is normal for oxygen cylinders only, maybe Airfix have got confused.

It is nice to see the before and after photos of your subject, it would have been such a waste if it had been scrapped.

That is superb, as a PCM builder I can appreciate the work that has gone into it, I have the same kit in the stash and was looking at it yesterday, but no I have my hands full at the moment.

What a build thread, modelling in a hotel room and making a great job of it, really impressive.

Yes he was always very helpful, answered a lot of my questions and not just on Spitfires, luckily I copied a lot of his information.

Hi Peter, the Revell Spitfire while not in the same class as the Tamiya Spitfires is a nice build, the Barracuda stuff is great for enhancing it, I think I used a YAHU IP on mine.
A lot of the information I used on the build was from the late Edgar Brooks who reviewed the kit when it first came out, here's a link to the Britmodeller thread containing Edgar's summary.

This is not nice at all, for gaps my technique is similar to John's I normally use scrap plastic pushed into the gap and then liberal quantities of CA, followed by accelerator and sand smooth before the CA goes too hard.
Good Luck

Looking mighty good -= just keep going and I'm sure you are planning number five.
Thank you Peter it will probably be a C202, but I will still buy the Italeri one if it has good reviews just to try and encourage them to build more Italian WW2 subjects.

Hi John, the station keeping lights were fitted to some Mk.I and II Spitfires, I found out on my build too late as I had attached them and sanded them smooth.
This is what Edgar had to say, station keeping lights," which might have been coloured like the navigation lights, but that remains a mystery, for now.

There are some impressive kits in that list, I think I've only failed to finish two kits, one 1/72 and one 1/48, they were both just too small for my sausage fingers.
