Great story, as has been said above it does make you wonder how many more such stories are out there.

Great result from a really "challenging" kit, if a mainstream manufacturer was to bring out a modern 1/48 Halifax I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Hi John, built one of those way back in 2016, I got a tweak list from the late Spitfire expert Edgar, this involved me using lots of Barracuda part, the Edgar list is at the start of this build thread from Britmodeller. Hope it's of some use to you.

This looks great, I'm so impressed I may build an AVG P40 to sit next to my Eagle Squadron Spitfire.

That green plastic stirred some memories from a while ago, the kit is very accurate in outline for a Mk.I it just need some TLC and some resin.

Well I just had to, having battled through the PCM Fabric wing version I wanted something a bit easier, and this fits the bill.

Very very nice Dennis, only ever done the 24th 1A, I was very young. So the question is going to be, in 32nd Kotare, Tamiya or PCM?……
I don't think that the PCM is in the same class as the other two, though it was the first IM Spitfire Mk.IX, hence I snapped one up as soon as they were released way back when and it deserved to be built, but if the Tamiya kit had been around in those days I would have bought one in a flash.

After a lengthy error strewn build I finally finished (nearly) my PCM Spitfire IX, it just needs the IFF wires and exhaust staining but I've put it in the cabinet so I cannot make any more mistakes while handling it.
It is a great kit and all the problems were of my own making.

Built one of those a while ago and it's a nice build with no real snags if I remember correctly, have fun.

I bought the HKM Meteor in anticipation of a Fisher F3 conversion, sadly that did not appear, so an F3 from Revell will suit me really well.

Looking very much like an early P-40, it does look very shark like no wonder the mouth and teeth paint work suited it.

How true and I am in a secured, secret hiding place - one unopened bottle.
I've got s few of those stashed away as it is a nice match for AMT-4 and I stocked up while they were still available in the UK.

Yes that's the one, the RAF Museum gave a firm a Spitfire to pay for the recovery, which was successful, however the Egyptian authorities claimed the aircraft. It has since been given a dodgy restoration.
The remains of the pilot have not been found.
