  1. I was looking at getting this kit, but looking at your thread I'm kinda glad I didn't as it was in excess of 200 dollars down here. That said you are doing a nice job on it.
  2. I was going with 'Moister than an Oyster' but whichever.
  3. Just to add the other perspective, I built one straight from the box and though it looked pretty good. I hardly notice the main issue which are the cannon bulges on the nose when she was in my cabinet.
  4. Does the CAF have another Fortress project or will the simply look to rebuild Texas Raiders?
  5. I looked at the NTSB report this morning, it seems as though the airshow was running the aircraft past the crowd in two lines; the slower aircraft on a line that ran parallel from the crowd at 500ft distance, while the faster aircraft were inside this at a 1000ft line. It appears that the Air Boss, on the fatal pass, called for the faster aircraft, namely the 3 ship formation of 2 Mustangs and the P-63, to fall into a line astern formation, cross in front of the slower aircraft and pass the crowd on the 500ft line. At the same time the slower aircraft were cleared to follow the 1000ft line. You can see this in the film of the accident when the two mustangs pass in front of the Fortress. I don't know if this was in the plans of the airshow or not, but it seem that crossing the two flight plans, combined with the fact the P-63 would have lost sight of the Fortress in the left hand turn while probably assuming he was clear to follow the 500ft line, has caused this accident. I feel that there may be some lawsuits resulting from this accident.
  6. Dropped into the LHS on the way to cricket on a whim yesterday and happen to find original MPC/AMT boxings of the Tie Interceptor and A Wing fighter. For $30 each they came home with me.
  7. I've found that Humbrol metal coat 27002 polished aluminum is almost bullet proof when applied over gloss black and it looks great. Dead easy to airbrush and very forgiving if you make a mistake.
  8. I will keep and eye out for them. We did get some re released star wars kits down here in Australia, including the ATAT walker and a few others. I really should pick up the big revell ATAT though.
  9. I managed to find myself the old Return of the Jedi boxing MPC 1/50 X Wing. I had built one as a kid and was looking for it again. On the hunt now for others I missed as a kid like the Star Destroyer, walkers, tie fighters and Y wing.
  10. Is this going ahead? I will dig out my Verlinden 1/35 midget submarine if so.
  11. Everyone at my funeral gets a taser, last man standing can have all my shit.
  12. I've seen a couple of model stashes sold off. One was a bloke who passed with 5000 models and around 3000 books. He said in his will that his family was to hold a swap and sell and sell things off to the local modelling community. The family made quite a bit of money in cash and everything was sold within 2 hours. Was a hell of a morning I tell ya. The other was just this year, one of dad's friends passed away and his son asked for my help in selling off the models he had. We made him several thousand dollars over one weekend model show. The museum dad is with also receives a lot of donations from people who don't know what to do with things. Hundreds of books turn up each month because of this. Most of them get sold, however I'm sure much more just goes straight to the tip.
  13. Last time I looked there was 2 out my way at the LHS for 150 each. Models and Hobbies 4U if anyone wanted them.
  14. I forget the brand, but they come with a red cardboard backing to the package. Their tips actually bend under the slightest pressure, blades are complete crap. I now stick to the red capped little tubes of blades which are the genuine product and much better. It usually works out at about $1 a blade, but I might only go through 10 a year or so.
  15. I have a couple; 1 - large scale steam locomotive- Trumpeter BR 52, built it, but it's gone now. Looking to build another. 2 - large scale U boat - have 4 - 2 type 7s, 1 type 9 and a type 2, all still in the stash.
  16. I tried both direct to Trumpeter and the distributor out here in Australia. Got nothing but a run around both times. If you can, I'd just take it back to the place you bought it and exchange or refund, otherwise you might be out of luck.

  18. The fit is pretty much perfect, no filler used at all. Along with that, this boxing (number 6523) gives you turned metal barrel, counterweights and top section of the gun. You also get lots and lots of extras as you can do different versions of the weapon and build with the shield on too if you want. I'm almost certain that this boxing would be better than Trumpeters.
  19. Have you tried some free to play games on the net? I'm right into World of Warships, it's free to play, although you can spend money on it if you want to. I've also got a World of Tanks account but that game is much harder to be a free to play player as the encomony in game isn't as good.
  20. If that's the 'early version' with the resin cowling Rog then it's still wrong for a -1.
  21. 64th Sentai tangled with the AVG on occasion with their Ki-43s, they were one of the first squadrons to receive them from I think (sorry I don't have my reference with me it's packed away) from mid 1941, so they would have initially got Ki-43-1's. The Hasegawa kit is a Ki-43-II, which didn't start to show up until very late 1942. You'd need to change the cowling, no upper oil cooler (I think) intake, that was on the bottom of the cowl lip, 2 blade prop, the gun fairings on the upper cowling are different as the -1's just mounted light machine guns, no droptank or bomb racks (for early model -1s) and you'd need to find a flat topped main canopy and I think maybe windscreen and long telescopic gunsight too. UMI Resin did the prop and cowling with some other little items, but that's long OOP and you'd still be on your own for canopy and windscreen.
  22. 40 thousand new cases in my state today, I'm hiding at home and only going out in the early morning or late evening if I need supplies, avoiding crowds and social gatherings.
  23. Straight from the box with little trouble.
