Finished this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19514-c-46-sod-refugee-finished/

This Williams Bros. 1/72 C-46 languished on my SOD for many years. I worked on it but put it up several times over the years so now I decided to go on and finish it. There were several problems that couldn't be corrected, the windows for one which were already installed. The cockpit glass is cracked also. No getting around that. At any rate, I decided to finish it off. Decals are Caracal and it's painted with Testor's MM. It's nice to "save" a model from the SOD.

I've been doing a little work on this model from time to time and now that the Whirlwind is completed I decided to go on and finish it. Here it is as of last night 7-21-23.

Thank you Phil!

Thanks Gaz! Very much appreciated.

Thanks very much Dennis! I appreciate it.

Turned out really well. Nice work!

Thanks Peter. The canopy is still messed up, it just doesn't show up well in the photos. So far I haven't heard back from SH.

Thanks Peter.

Not a problem as far as I'm concerned. What were you looking for in the way of stencils?
-
Yes Kevin. I used all their stencils.

Completed and ready for inspection. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19509-whirlwind-done/

I'm calling this one done. Certainly not a "shake-n-bake" kit as it has a number of difficult areas, especially the landing gear. At any rate, it's finally done and ready for inspection. No after market stuff on this one so it's a OOB build. Painted with Colourcoats, Xtracolor and Testor's with a over spray of Alclad semi-gloss clear. I hope y'all like it! By the way, here's a book on the Whirlwind in squadron service that may interest some of you. As always guys, click on the 1st photo for best resolution and to view as a slide show.

Thanks Dennis! Me too! Until they do I will go on and use the messed up one.

No it's not cracked. I managed to get glue on the clear area when I was trying to attach the 2 rear "braces" (?). Both sides. I sent a email to the folks at Special Hobby so maybe they will send me a replacement. The front left side had a molding blemish right out of the box but I decided to work around it. Doesn't matter now. Thanks anyway Carl. 🤪

Looking very good!

True Kevin. It's coming along.

Good idea Peter! We'd have to stick to Tamiya and Hasegawa.
-
I wouldn't say "sailing right through it" but enduring the process! Getting those gear parts together is a test of patience to say the least! Very high cuss-factor for sure.

I'll start on the landing gear today Peter. Hopefully I won't have the problems that you encountered. We will see!

See what happens when you blink! LOL Thank you Phil!
