  1. Thanks for the info Peter, I have been looking for a replacement for my rapidly diminishing supply of extinct Model Master paints and these sound like they might do the trick. I have Sprue Brothers order building so I'll add a couple of the sets to the list and give them a try. I too was considering the MRP paint but have been put off by its lack of general availability.
  2. This was posted on another forum back in January Hope that helps !
  3. The second of my mojo kick starters was the Hasegawa J2M3. This kit was pure joy and the only issues I had were self made. I had a PE set for it but ended up using only a couple of bits. The IP looked too one dimensional to me so I ended up using the kit IP and supplied decal which I thought came out rather nice. For once I wanted to a Japanese aircraft that didn't look like a paint stripping job gone bad so I kept chipping to a minimum. I took a couple cockpit shots on this one as it is quite large and easy to see through the large canopy. The IP did get a wash but the camera didn't pick it up well. Hopefully this will end my drought and this year will be more fruitful. Thanks for looking !
  4. I was in a modelers slump for most of 2018 and hadn't completed a large scale kit since early 2017 so in the waining months of last year I pulled a couple of kits from the stash that met several criteria, low parts count, simple paint jobs, and kits I felt I would be happy with OOB or a very minimum of after market. Remarkably I was able to finish both before the end of the year. The first of these was the Pacific Coast Models Re.2005. The kit went together well except for the resin cockpit which I couldn't get to fit to my satisfaction. Once I realized that precious little of it would be visible through the tiny cockpit opening I relaxed and went with the flow. The IP hides up under the cowl and about all you can see through the canopy is the seat and harness. The only other issue was the landing gear which was very fiddly and took several tries to get close to what looked like a normal stance. Since these aircraft were only in service a short time I kept weathering to a minimum. Considering how much my skills had atrophied it turned out OK as far as I was concerned and went a long way towards recharging my mojo ! Thanks for looking !
  5. I have not placed any orders yet but get his info emails, so far the one thing I've noticed when he has had something I'm interested it is that his shipping costs are higher than others but I assume that's because I'm farther away from him.
  6. I was so happy when this kit was released, as it ended my efforts to piece one together from parts of other kits, that I tended to overlook some of the fit issues. All in all this kit goes together much easier than many of ICM's earlier releases. And yes I totally agree that the decals suck but of late it has seemed to be much more common except when they are done by Cartograph or Microscale and have gotten a lot more interested in painting them on myself.
  7. Some of you may recognize my avatar from other places but for those who don't I'll post a few photos of my past completions. I don't post build logs, when I got back into the hobby about ten years ago I did but found over time more often than not, builds that I did blogs for all to often were never completed so instead of leaving orphaned uncompleted logs around around taking up band width I only post completed builds. I do appreciate those who do, it's just not for me. This past year I have been in a slump, I spent most of 2017 finishing up a lot of shelf of doom projects, nine to be exact and it sort of burned me out on modeling. I do now have a couple on the bench that I hope to finish up before year end. Enough verbiage... CyberHobby Hobbycraft Hobbyboss Special Hobby Pacific Coast Models Hasegawa Special Hobby Special Hobby Hasegawa I build in all scales and until I started building in 1/32, 1/48 was my primary scale. All of my completions can be seen here http://www.olddogsplanes.com/gallery.html From there build build logs they can be found through links there or from my home page at http://www.olddogsplanes.com/index.html Thanks for looking and I hope to post some new completions soon !
