Signature post problems

Recommended Posts

As you well know, I like to use the signature function to add literature quotes to

my posts.....it's just something I enjoy doing. Lately, I've been unable to do so.

When using the paste function, and then pressing save....the quote appears in a larger font than previously,  and it has made adding signatures nearly impossible!

Why the change? Any attempt to use the size function to change this has not been

possible....Why?

Paul

Just spitballing here, but probably because when you did the copy, it also copies the font size and type and it’s imbedded in the info and cannot be changed.
I’ve noticed similar things with doing a copy/paste of passwords emailed to me while trying to access pages.

No, tried that.....still comes out huge despite size of source font.

It would be beneficial to know in order to identify the root of the problem, in the case this will pop up again.

It required , partially, changing the font size used on my kindle fire tablet.

The problem hasn't been solved as things pasted from internet sources come

out in large font. I have a feeling that this problem is very specific.

Ok, there's been no change to our system here that would cause such an error.

If you paste something into the sig area, the editor will probably carry over any original formatting.

A tip to get around that is to paste text into your browser address bar and then copy it again and paste to your sig. That removes all formatting. You can then amend as you like.

Nope. Tried it, doesn't work......a parroted comment? Don't know.

I've been doing the same way for at least a couple of years....then, suddenly,

the way I've been doing it doesn't work.....Anyway, I found another way.

I know the "change" occurred after the site was down. Thanks anyway.

Regards;

Paul.

The reason the site was down was due to a power supply outage to the datacenter where we are hosted.

There were no actual software changes made to the site.

I'm just noting that  was when I first  noticed the problem.

Have you tried deleting your browser cache and cookies?

If you've some corruption stored there, that could affect it. Try another browser to test.

I run a site with 42k members which operates the same software and there are no reported issues.
