Eduard Wildercat build #2

I decided that, since I have another one of these kits, I may as well build it too but in the tri-color scheme. Should go well with the 1st all GSB build.

My usual procedure is to pre-paint most of the parts. This helps in assembly and later painting.

Cockpit about done. I have to say though, it has a high cuss-factor! Fiddly bits and my old eyes just don't get along! The engine and wheel struts/wheel bay are also high cuss-factor areas as I found out on my previous build and this build is proving no different. 🙄

I see there have been 77 views on this as of today, the 15th, but not a single post aside from Peter's. I have to say that's concerning and disappointing. Makes me wonder if it's worth the effort. 🙄

Having grown up, still living on Long Island with all Grumman and Republic Aviation aircraft (both long gone) are near and dear to me. Terrific choice for another 48th scale project and your time-tested building/painting technics are working like a charm.

One awesome front office and so well worth the 'high cuss factor' - detail work is spot on and perfectly done. Yup, takes a lot to get use to working with the smaller parts but you have 'easily' proven it can be done by us Senior Builders. Hard for me to comprehend the progress you made in the few days I took off for a medical procedure and then a consultation with my doctor and low and behold, the Wildcat is basically together. Can't wait to see your Wildcat as she works her way through the paint shop. 

I'm enjoying building more in 48th scale aircraft myself, with Tamiya and Eduard at the top of my list. Just in my Grumman section of the stash, I have three Eduard Hellcats and am getting ready to purchase an equal number of Eduard Wildcats, after seeing what gems they are in your capable hands. The tricolor early war schemes are my favorite and glad that's the paint scheme you're going for. Of course, paint colors are always a hot topic and I'm betting you are going all enamels (money in the bank). For me it's usually lacquers these days; MRP, Mr Color or AK.

Thanks Peter. I've started painting already and am using acrylics (Mr. Color and Tamiya). I think they are good paints plus they dry faster than enamels. Stay tuned.

Sounds great and going with acrylics. now that's a change for sure.

Aside from a little touch up painting is done. Next I'll spray some clear gloss and then start decaling. When that's all done I'll spray it with some clear flat and do some exhaust stains, etc.
