Playing in the Sandbox Group Build Sept 1, 2024 - Jn 1, 2025

Eduard 1/48 Bf-110G-4 resumed

Recommended Posts

Since I don't have a '110 night fighter in my built up collection I decided to get started on this kit that I have had for a good while. There are MANY very small fiddly bits to use so I have my fingers crossed the carpet monster doesn't get any of them. I finished the pilot's cockpit last night and now will start on the rest of the innards. The belts by the way are FineMolds.

Nice choice for you build and the front office s looking mighty good. The IP is a standout - PE or a steady hand?

:construction:

Thanks Peter. The IP is PE. Really nice looking so I had to use it instead of painting the plastic one provided. I've been working on the rest of the cockpit and am darn near cross-eyed now!!! 😄

Full eye exam yesterday, as my doctor is an Opthlamic Surgeon, so I know I'm in the best of hands. My sight stayed nearly the same for the past year but I suffer all the vision symptoms of someone our age - and of course, it's only deteriorates over time.  Cross eyed, not too bad but hand eye coordination isn't the best anymore.

WQOW, the PE IP does look mighty awesome.

Beautiful work, John!!

Thanks Chris. So far it's coming along okay but all those little bitty parts are hard to work with! LOL 🙂

Progress so far. Fit could be better. I have the kit nose and a resin Cutting Edge nose. At this point I think I'll go with the resin nose as it looks a bit better.

Looking might good and right with you as the resin nose does look a lot more finely detailed.

Thanks. I think it looks better too but I'll have to see about fit......

Resin nose attached. Not too bad fit except for the underside where there is a "step". I'll putty and sand this area and try to blend it in. Shouldn't be too difficult. 🙂

Not too bad of a fit but that's a major league step for sure. Well worth the extra clean up work as the details look amazing.

It fits a little better than the kit nose. Should look okay after I smooth in the underside. 🙂

Some mighty nice progress on the 110 and so glad you decided to use the AM resin nose - it looks awesome and nice work blending it in so perfectly. And of course, you're 'flying' through the build faster then I can keep up.

Looking at the horizontal tailplane, sure seems the fit was going to put up a pretty good fight by the amount of filler needed. Of course, my money is riding on you, you will have a flawless fit after the sanding work - oh, what fun.

Thank you Peter. Actually the horizontal tail fits rather well. I guess it just doesn't show up that well in that last photo. Might need a little smoothing out but nothing drastic.
