I have t tried Mr Cement so can't comment on how it compares to Tamiya Extra Thin unfortunately. Carl Thanks Carl. I may tried to get over to my local HobbyTown USA tomorrow and buy a few bottles of Tamiya Extra Thin plus I need some X20 thinner. 2
RalphSarc Posted October 20, 2024 Author Posted October 20, 2024 55 individuals track links per side, lol!!! Spent the evening watching TV and cutting 120 track links off their spruce!!!! The result was a bag of track links. Tomorrow I’ll remove 120 track pads from their spruce!! 5
FullArmor Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 120 links. but the end result will be great😁 3

RalphSarc Posted October 21, 2024 Author Posted October 21, 2024 Four spruce, 35 track pads per spruce, 140 snips per spruce equals 560 snips and 140 track pads!!! 140 tracks and pads ready for assembly! 4
RalphSarc Posted October 21, 2024 Author Posted October 21, 2024 Making Tamiya Spruce Glue from my left over Tamiya Extra Thin and pieces of spruce!! Should be ready by morning. 3
RalphSarc Posted October 21, 2024 Author Posted October 21, 2024 After two days off snipping I’m finally off the the races assembling tracks. After a tiny bit of cleanup up on both the track link and track pad parts assembly is pretty straightforward. A touch of Extra Thin holds them in place while maintaining the flexibility of the track. 3

I’m using it to assemble the tracks and it seems to be behaving as Tamiya Extra Thin would. I also a splash of it to make spruce glue with my leftover Extra thin and it had no problem melting the spruce prices. 3
RalphSarc Posted October 22, 2024 Author Posted October 22, 2024 55 track links and 54 track pads later and the first track assembly is finished. The 55th track pad will join the track once mounted of the vehicle. 5
RalphSarc Posted October 23, 2024 Author Posted October 23, 2024 Started the second set of tracks this evening. The secret is definitely to remove the track link and track pads from the spruce first. While very fidgety the process is well worth it. Assemble requires minimal clean up and parts fit really well. 4

I totally understand. My basement stash on consists of 100 or so kits and I finally stopped buying because at 72 I’ll never build them all especially with our RV trips throughout the US and CA and not to mention overseas travel: 1

I love OZ armor and Workshop Wednesdays!! I’m like you I’ve stopped watching network TV…..it’s just to much!! I prefer the dozen or so weekly YouTube videos I follow for my entertainments. 3
GusMac Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Thanks for the cool video Ralph. Think I'd wet my pants if I saw that coming around the car park towards me though! 😄 3

There was no drive to the front wheels only steering to a point and then the tracks would steer. That angle was very severe and not very ergonomic at all. 3
RalphSarc Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 Stick a fork in me……I’m done!!! I’m the proud assembler of 108 individual track links…….. my first I might add!!! 4
RalphSarc Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Completed the assemble of the suspension in step 5. I’m finding it difficult without any written explanation to follow all the small parts and their placement on the instruction. 4
BlrwestSiR Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Great progress there Ralph. Can't believe you got the tracks together so quickly. 1

I think the secret is to separate and clean all the track links and pads before assembly. It’s tedious but well worth the effort as it makes assembly a breeze. I will say I’ve always stayed away from kits that require me to build tracks and I now see way, lol!!! Give me a good old rubber band track any day! 4
RalphSarc Posted October 27, 2024 Author Posted October 27, 2024 There will be a slight pause in me exciting building post as I enjoy a two week Portugal Viking River Cruise. First stop Lisbon for a few days of sightseeing, good food and some marvelous beers! Behave while I’m away, lol!! PS……I may have over packed!!! 5
