Ian2457 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Hi there. I've just joined LSM and thought I'd post some pictures of a PCM Spitfire Mk IX. It was a short run injection moulded kit. I felt that externally it was as accurate as the latter Tamiya kit. Obviously the Tamiya kit has whistle's and bells and is superb. PCM's kit has a superb resin and etch cockpit which is very nice indeed. My photo's don't quite catch how good the cockpit is. I really enjoyed making this kit and I think it's turned out quite well. It won a prize at the Combat Stress art display. Apparently it was the first model kit to do so. I donated the kit in a dustcover to Combat Stress. In large scale, I like to model aircraft in 1/32nd and 1/24th scales, as I can still see the details I want to paint. With Armour it's 1/35th the whole way. Outside of those scales I build 1/72nd, as long as it's large! So in the stash I have the V-Bombers, a B-36 and a 1/72 U-boat VII and IX. I'm only doing the latter two because I was given a set of the CMK detail sets and I'm a sucker for kits with internal detail!! Best wishes to everyone and happy modelling... 10
Martinnfb Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Outstanding build Ian, thank you for sharing and welcome to the forum. Cheers Martin 1
Spitfire Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Nice build of a pretty challenging kit, I built the same kit not so long ago on a run of 4 PCM kits, they are not easy builds but can turn out looking good. Cheers Dennis 2
KevinM Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Nice looking build I myself have done a couple of PCM kits in the Italian family.I stayed away from that kit having seen builds fight the wing root area to which does not seem to show in yours. 2
