RalphSarc Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 I’ve always said stowage makes the tank….plus tarps and camouflage netting! Oh and did I say a Tamiya 1/35 bike too!!! 3
RalphSarc Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 Added a few more pieces this morning including a scratch built forward shelf for more stowage bits plus two fuel cans to each rear sides of the fenders! Almost ready to prime!! 5
RalphSarc Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Primed!! Really like how the cast marks look primed. Kinda toned them down a bit. 6
HubertB Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Very effective method for the casting relief, Ralph. Tip duly noted (thinking of the effect on some 1930s’ instrument panels) Hubert 2

RalphSarc Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 Once I had cleaned my Iwata I thought I’d put down a coat of black base on the Easy Eight. OD base coat next. 3
RalphSarc Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 Some Clever Putty over a base coat of Stynylrez Black Surface Primer and a top coat of Tamiya XF-62 Olive Drab and we have a late war camouflage scheme. 3
RalphSarc Posted July 16 Author Posted July 16 Laid down for a short afternoon nap and apparently while doing so I nap ordered on Amazon!!!! 2
RalphSarc Posted July 17 Author Posted July 17 Hand painting all the stowage, bike etc plus a bit of chipping before I begin to weather with a few oil washes and pigments. Also need to paint the crew figure and 50cal plus install both. 4
RalphSarc Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 Successful day! Crew figure and 50cal painted and installed. Next comes a gloss coat, decals, weathering and a final coat of flat clear!! 4

Apparently the OD and black camouflage scheme with black markings became very popular amongst E8 crews nearing wars end. Plus I agree stowage really does add interest plus tells the story of the crew living and fighting in their tanks. I particularly like the bike!! 2
RalphSarc Posted Sunday at 03:09 PM Author Posted Sunday at 03:09 PM Okay this is a totally cool technique to add interest to either a armor or aircraft build. The Diraccos 1/35 Scale Camouflage Netting I ordered from Amazon and its painted with XF-26 Deep Green, XF-68 NATO Brown and finally XF-85 Rubber Black. 2
