denders Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I bought this shirt at the EAA Museum gift shop when I visited the museum a couple days before the 2024 NATS in Madison, WI. I wore it one at the 2024 NATS, but wore it every day at the 2025 NATS. I don't have a P-40 on the shelf but decided that I needed to build one of the GWH kits. So, I bought one when SB was having a discount going. Since the shirt has 77 on it, I was thinking that would be the markings. I have some AM for it and some more AM that I ordered last evening. I'll post photos of the AM when I have it all. This should be fun.   7
denders Posted November 18, 2025 Author Posted November 18, 2025 Okay, I think I have all the PE that I want. I guess it's time to get started. 5
CANicoll Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Dave, Can't wait to watch this build! This is one aircraft I have not built many of. I have a personalized signed bio of Tex Hill on my shelf. I'd have to build his aircraft, number 48!  Chris 4
denders Posted December 20, 2025 Author Posted December 20, 2025 The seat belts have arrived, so it's time to get busy. Â 5
denders Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 Since I'm waiting for something to dry at the 109 build, I thought I'd get started in the cockpit of this one. The HGW belts are assembled for this and the 109. They went together pretty well. Â 4
belugawhaleman Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I'm going to like this for sure😀 That GWH kit is one that I'm interested in if I can find one at a good price, but seriously, I have too many models at the moment. I really like the P 40 , but my only experience of the type is building the 1/48 OTAKI kit about 40 years ago. It'll be interesting to see how this kit goes together.........Will be following😀 3
denders Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Progress. I've put all the stuff in the rear fuselage because I'm going to have the access hatch open. Â 6
BlrwestSiR Posted January 15 Posted January 15 That's a lot of detail inside the fuselage. Nicely done too. 2 1
denders Posted Saturday at 10:15 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:15 PM Okay, back to this one while I'm waiting for the clear on the 109 build to cure. I wondered how things would go, seemed like the cockpit pieces might end up a little fiddly and I might struggle to get it to fit in the fuselage pieces. Nope. I glued it carefully and it fit right into the fuselage pieces. Ready to be glued. There is something to be aware of if you're going to add all the internals. The red circled tab is supposed to fit behind the yellow circled black box. I tried it when the fuselage section was the only piece in place and it seemed to flex into place. But one all the other connections were glued it wouldn't flex into place, so I just cut out the tab and a little of the fuselage section out. Onward! Â 4
