A few months ago, i had the change to buy a WNW RE.8 "Harry Tate" (one of my favourite aircraft),Thank's to Grant Lovett from Arrow & Wolf.

So after a little doubt, wich kit i wanted to start (Albatross D.Va or the RE.8) my choise feld on the Harry Tate.

Yesterday, these extra goodies where deliverd:

The complete HGW "Harry Tate" PE and decal set, and flat rigging wire.

The reference i will use are the photo's from the WNW website.

So, i think everthing is ready to start, here's the complete kit and the extra aftermarket goodie's.

I’ve been practicing wood graining and rigging techniques etc over the last few months on several Revell 1/28 kits to ready myself to build my first WNW kit a D-Vll (Alb). Been watching the D-Vll group build and pouring over the tips here on the forum.

I’ll follow your build with great interest!

Ok, for now, i have a small progress to show you guy's.

I did some work on the RAF 4a engine, still very basic, but that will change, as i want to add some extra detail regarding the ignition cables.

Engine was painted with Alclad and Tamiya paint's.

previous, i mentioned that i will use two figures from Kellerkind Miniatures.

These figures are real nice, very crisp and sharp details, and there pose is really intresting.

I took some detail pictures, and here they are :

Pilot 1 :

Ok guy's, i'm back with some more progress regarding the RAF 4a engine.

Previous, i said that i would put some more details regarding the push rods and the ignition cables.

The push rods are in place, and where scratchted with some lead wire and some brass tube.

DSCN0898_zps6cef5f6d.jpg

DSCN0897_zps0e659502.jpg

Time to tackle the ignition cables.

I didn't find the part, included in the WNW kit, regarding the ignition cables, not very convincing, so i decided to make my own.....afterwards, that was a very stupid decision, because i had to make five disc's that where about 2 m/m in diameter, and drill 12 holes in those disc'sBANGHEAD2.jpg ......to be honest, that didn't work very well.

So i decided to turn a other way. I punched five holes into a plastic piece of evergreen card, and repeated that with a bigger diameter, so i got five ring's.

DSCN0902_zps8bb19775.jpg

DSCN0903_zps6447622a.jpg

That are the holder's for the ignition cables. Not very scale-wise realistic, but not much will be seen afterwards.

After i done this, i glued these onto the engine in theire place.

Et voila, next step is the placement of the ignition cables themselves.

DSCN0906_zpsa34c6eb5.jpg

DSCN0905_zps70d2d680.jpg

DSCN0904_zps3e29f421.jpg

Once the cables are in theire place, everything will looking more realistic.

That's all folk's

Time to show some more progress, first i go further with the engine ignition cables.

The kit provides these cable's, but they are not really convincing or realistic, so i decided to scratch build them.

These are the kit-part's cables.

DSCN0899_zps3fcb770c.jpg

DSCN0900_zps1a77f500.jpg

I used 0.2 m/m lead wire to replicate the cables, first cut them to length and pre-painted them. The conectors to connect the cables onto the spark-plugs where made from brass tube.

DSCN0912_zps2b7522e5.jpg

DSCN0913_zps130c7062.jpg

Also the two ring's at the front of the engine where scratch build.

DSCN0915_zps2dd0e67b.jpg

DSCN0916_zpsf5e35080.jpg

Last thing to do, was to connect the cables to the ignition box.

DSCN0917_zps7b092af0.jpg

DSCN0918_zps1b6ad6e2.jpg

Finaly, the whole engine received a wash of engine oil and grease.

DSCN0919_zpsc2fa319b.jpg

DSCN0921_zps5f17fb52.jpg

DSCN0924_zps8dabfdc3.jpg

The engine can rest for a wile now, let's go to the cockpit.

All part's that i needed for the cockpit where cut from theire sprue's, prior to receive theire primer.

DSCN0927_zps566cb5d1.jpg

WNW give's the modeller the opportunity to put some more realistic appearance to the pilot's seat. On theire website in the hint's and tip's section, you find the needed info regarding this little operation.

http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/hintsandtips

I did the same with this pilot seat.

DSCN0928_zps717eb18a.jpg

DSCN0929_zps76112f4c.jpg

That's all for this year folk's.

I wish you all a healty, happy and great modelling new year 2015

Again, it's bin a while since i posted the last progress......

A few weeks ago i started to prime all the part's regarding the cockpit. After that i used Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yellow for the base color, prior for adding the woodgrain texture.

DSCN0937_zpsd7b1ce0b.jpg

Afterwards, i added to all part's a woodgrain texture with oil paint Raw Umber. I used the same technique as i did for my Roland.

I don't have pic's of all the part's, just some of the side and instrument panel.

DSCN0939_zps181cf36e.jpg

DSCN0940_zps535e1c6b.jpg

DSCN0941_zpsd81bb896.jpg

Today, i did some detail painting and some decal handling regarding the instrumentpanel and engine mount.

DSCN0954_zps93c5a9eb.jpg

DSCN0955_zpsab6756b3.jpg

Engine mount went smooth on the side frame's of the fuselage.

DSCN0956_zpse64b2d2c.jpg

DSCN0957_zps01ae606d.jpg

Also oil tank and machinegun bullets case where glued onto the frame, still they need some wheatering and detail painting.

DSCN0958_zpsc78d81f1.jpg

DSCN0960_zpsead25143.jpg

The fueltank, painted in XF-82 Ocean Grey.

Hi Guy's,

the first section of the cockpit is almost complete. All parts are glued together.

DSCN0961_zps9d45601b.jpg

DSCN0962_zps54b317c1.jpg

Wiring, controle cables and wheatering still need to be added.

DSCN0964_zps2a594e15.jpg

DSCN0965_zps79748ede.jpg

The front section was afterwards installed into the fuselage frames.

DSCN0967_zps836da1ac.jpg

DSCN0969_zps5052e380.jpg

Togetheter with the front section i dry-fitted the engine, just for display purpose.

Time to put some rigging stuff into the cockpit.

For this i use the fantastic rigging wire from Ushi.

First, i added some controle cabels into the cockpit.

DSCN0985_zpsybbwgnzu.jpg

DSCN0989_zpsvajepblh.jpg

Also i added the connection between the two throttle levers.

For this i used Albion Alloys 0.4 m/m copper tube.

DSCN0995_zpsqjz0kfwb.jpg

And the cabels between the fuselage frames.

DSCN0994_zpsilhocnxd.jpg

After some thinking i decided to add some cables on the engine frame. But all of this will not be seen once the fuselage is glued together and the engine cowl is closed. But hey, i now it's there, so i can sleep at nightevil_laugh.gif
