Delay in membership approval?

I'm just wondering if it's normal for a membership approval to take a while. A good friend of mine, Peter Wellstein, sent in his request 4 days ago and hasn't heard back. Is this normal or has there been a glitch? I know he's ready and waiting and a VERY good model builder.
