1/25 scale AMT Caterpillar D8H build

Just found this site and this build blog.  Amazing stuff.  I built this kit as a teenager and really enjoyed building it straight out of the box.  40 or so years later, I have started on this kit and hope to do justice to it with a few bells and whistles.  I have just placed an order with pappyhobby.  My wallet does not appreciate it but his stuff looks awesome and addresses some of the areas I was planning on scratch building or modifying.  I will be patient and hope my order goes well.

Pappy does have some great stuff, just remember it takes a long time to get it from him. Also you can only get a hold of him on facebook.

Just catching up on the Cat and it's amazing. Great job and I really love the rip you put in the seat.

My package from Papy Hobby arrived today and in excellent condition.  Ordered a set of tracks, Cab 02, radiator grill and front blade cylinders.  Looks very nice.  The tracks were assembled but one track is now in four pieces.  I will take a closer look to figure out how to re-attach the segments.

How long did it take to get the order?

Those tracks need alot of work to make them work. You have to totally dissasemble them sand them then reassemble them.

The order took about 6 weeks to arrive.  I was able to re-attach the segments.  They are a big improvement over the kit supplied tracks.

I ordered one part and a decal on 8/25/25.  Both were supposedly in stock.  I asked for a refund on 11/10/25 for both items as I had received no other update or communication from Papyhobby.  On 11/12/25 I received an email saying my package was shipping soon via Purolator with a tracking number.  The tracking information indicates that my order has not been picked up yet and still indicates the same status as of today.  Over the last month I have sent 4 emails requesting an actual update but nothing.  I was warned up their "custom service" but this is ridiculous.

 

Warning: As nice as their stuff is, do not use them.  Extremely terrible customer service.
