Hasegawa P-47D in 1/32
nmayhew replied to jandrego's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
great job! love those masks -
Cheers Dave I guess the difference in price points Europe vs Far East is a key factor in whether we consider this kit a major improvement over the Hasegawa offerings...wonder how it will be priced in the US?

The H is out and in stores / eBay here in Europe for sure

Chris The Mossie looks more awesome every time I check in! 1/24 is a bit to adventurous for me, but this build will surely be a template for me (and others I imagine) if one ever comes out in 1/32... Ooh Afrika Tiger - 'the unicorn' of all armour modelling!! Do you know which Abt. you're building, as the two were rather different? I'm not going to go there regarding the colour... Let me know if you need some pointers - I am NO expert, but have read A LOT of threads over on missing-Lynx over the years, and can point you to the Tiger experten over there if you like... PM / email me if you like Cheers Nick -
That aircraft was in all probability not a P but an H Basically until someone shows me pictorial proof of that bird, I'll say they've got it wrong You'll want the H for anything in Afrika I plan on making a KG26 bird - the one where they took pics of the lion cub in the cockpit, with the shield and Latin inscription visible below 'vestigium leonis' - one of the iconic images 'Afrika' imho
-
It's a good kit Accurate in outline, and can be built right OOB if that is your wish LOTS of aftermarket available for it - some more 'necessary' than others The P generally saw action early Blitzkrieg and BoB, so no Trop, whitewash etc etc I should be reviewing the recently released H version for SPR and I will do a compare / contrast etc Do you have a project in mind? Ask away and I'll do my best to help Nick

hi guys all you sherman and associated M4 chassis modellers may be interested in these little fellows those who frequent Missing-Lynx may already know about them perhaps, but apart from that i haven't seen much out there about them yet they are cad designed, 3D printed in resin, and will knock the socks of anything else out there on the market i hope to have a look at some idler wheels of theirs in the near future anyway, hope this is of interest http://scaleplasticandrail.com/kaboom/index.php/all-things-military-vehicle/135-scale/aftermarket-items/1830-1-35-sherman-tank-periscope-guards-and-lamp-horn-and-tail-light-guards-from-mmc-design cheers Nick

Revell He162 from eBay for £11 shipped Didn't even realise I had won the auction! Had a look inside and have to say I am very impressed - what a kit! It only retails at mega expensive Hannants for £16.99, so this really is a super cheapy! Still getting the Aires mega set for it though
-
Steve, I hear you re imported kit prices - just never occurred to me that it affected Revell overseas (doh!) - so I agree if it's the same price as a Hassy then what's point? It was also instructive to get to the bottom of the length issue, and why it has probably come about; thank you. Right, off to the gym now - I need to justify my trip to the beer festival at the pub N

hi Steve! thanks as ever for your knowledge and insight i guess we hope that the release date has been put back in order to correct various errors of the things you point out: - the vents and fuel ports can be re-scribed (tedious, but fairly easy) - the supercharger intake can be corrected with existing aftermarket (annoying - EagleEditions stuff is expensive imho) - the distance between s/c intake and beule is a worry - that requires a re-tool and cannot be fixed by aftermarket 'add-ons' - the length - this is not going to change clearly; what should it be in 1/32? i suppose however disappointing this is, it will end up at least as good as the Hasegawa kits, except probably half to two thirds the price that in my book is enough for me to buy a few, even if i would be rather frustrated they didn't nail it re Tamiya's choice, i don't think Revell had ANY influence; Tamiya-san supposedly loves the Corsair, which is why we have one, and that's all there is too it as i said elsewhere, Tamiya's next kit is "likely" to be either a Hurricane or a 109 but the Emil, not a Gustav (the Hurri and Emil are both at the Canadian museum Big t got all their measurements for the Corsair from, and Bob 'in the know, but can't tell you what I know' Swaddling said they measured another aircraft whilst doing the Corsair stuff... cheers Nick

Hey Matt Awesome news!! So tell us about the new job! Really pleased for you N
-
was sure someone said the Mossie - must have been old Winsgcale yup that was it i think... right, off to bed!
-
just not their style seriously, didn't HK or someone say they were going to??
-
my info comes via Bob Swaddling over on Hyerscale he's a smug so and so, but he has been right over the past 3 or four years, and is clearly party to Tamiya insider info / intentions... the Mossie is never going to come from Tamiya - it'll come from HK right?
-
well, the NEXT Tamiya uber kit will be (and you heard it here first - not really, but you know what i mean) either: Hawker Hurricane Me109 E why? because the Canada museum that tamiya measured the corsair at has these two birds also, and we know for a fact that Tamiya also measured another aircraft - but they are not saying which my money on the Emil
