  1. Damn, I missed that. Sorry. That was why I put the disclaimer about you guys seeming to always be on top of things like this. Well, I was right, LOL. Paul
  2. The admin on this site seem to be very hip to all the cool stuff floating around out there pertaining to our hobby. But just in case, here is a little something new. I just bought Vol. 1 & 2 and here is a link to Vol. 1, Tank Art, German Armor. This book looks wonderful with it's tutorials and awesome pictures showing painting and weathering techniques. Volume 2 constitutes American armor. There will be a total of 8 volumes. Tank Art, Volume 1 Paul
  3. Thanks Dave. I wasn't sure where I would have gotten the best response And I didn't want to hijack your thread. Paul
  4. Thanks James, I had a pretty good idea how good this kit is after seeing some of the stuff that has been posted so far on here. Beautiful pit so far, by the way. ZM's aftermarket does seem a bit pricey though. Rick, I agree. I also have the Revell kit and would build that accordingly. I may spring for the ZM kit. Still contemplating whether the HK B-17 is worth it too because it would be extremely hard to justify both. Thanks again Gentlemen, Paul
  5. I have a question concerning this kit and it may be a stupid one. Is this kit expansive enough to build out of box? The reason I ask is the abundance of "optional" parts being offered. Does the kit itself offer adequate coverage of parts sufficiently enough to not need any of the optional parts? At almost $200, it should and with wheels costing an extra $36 and guns, for christ sake, costing $24, is the kit itself good enough. I just got an email offering another pre-order with the kit and bonus figures of pilot, co-pilot and navigation lamps for $191. In your opinion, is this kit worth the money? From what I see on this post, maybe. I need good answers. Thanks,Paul

  7. Thanks everyone. Actually, I should have learned from this one but obviously didn't. This was done in 2008 and as my more recent work shows, I am still nervous about weathering. Figure that one out, LOL. This was NOT pre-shaded. This was a post paint job wash with Burnt Sienna diluted with 90% thinner over a clear spray. Then it was matte coated. Paul
  8. 1/32 Wingnut Wings D.H.9a in US Marine colors.
  9. Wow, what a pro job that is. 18 days? Are you freakin' kidding? Were those 18 hour days? LOL. Again, very nice work. I have that kit. I could only hope to come close. Paul
  10. OK, here is the link to Modeller's Photoguide. A lot of useful information geared to the kind of photography we do. Paul
  11. Go to a camera shop to ask questions. You don't have to buy there. Best buy people know absolutely nothing about the things they sell. I just bought a Nikon D3100 with 2 lenses from Dell, believe it or not. Paul
  12. Someone posted an excellent guide to model photography on the pre-crash SP&R. Extremely informative and I just happened to bookmark it. I will post it here when I get home from work today Paul
  13. Thanks Rick. That drill press is getting moved to make room for the spray booth I just built. It will get vented out that window above the DP. When I moved into that room it looked like it had all the room I needed. Haha, never the case. The table that U-boat box is sitting on is a very large table saw, that must go out into the basement area. Then I will feel more comfortable.
  14. Thanks guys for the kind words. Here is the plane I got the color scheme from. This was at an air show in Colorado Springs last year before I moved to Jersey. A whole flock of birds. The decals I used were from the kit but these bad boys were in normal livery. Paul
  15. Well, all I can say is wow. I had to stop reading and leave for work. I will come back to this later. There is so much detail and so much to learn I may have to read it more than twice. I am saving this. Nice work Paul, honestly. Paul
  16. Haha Jeroen, that Heinekin case holds some of about three hundred 33 1/3 RPM albums from the 70's and 80's. I'm showing my age here, LOL. Paul
  17. Nova, this kit was honestly a dream to build. It's older than even my Zero's, I have had it a while, so it's "early" Tamiya quality. It sat in my stash for a long time. The engine is a beautiful kit all by itself, I wish they put two in the kit. One in the plane and one on the maintenance cart. The engine can be taken in and out, it is on a dovetail slide fitting of a sort. They thought of everything on this one. The box has an insert to store the finished model if you like. The tail is on pins and rubber grommets so it can be removed for transport. Pretty neat. All in all I really liked building this. They also made a version in Air Force Thunderbirds colors but that one is discontinued and prices go towards $300 for the kit. I like it, but no way, LOL. And Jeroen? Thanks a lot for your kind words. This kit is well worth the money and I am NOT a modern aircraft guy. Paul
  18. I'm shocked too. Other than the F-4 I built years ago, this is the first. Just not into the modern stuff. This is for my son who is in AF at the moment. He shocked the hell out of me a few of weeks ago by re-upping. LOL. So I am sending him this to show how proud I am of him. It disassembles to fit back into cutouts in the original box. I pray it survives the trip. Thanks everyone for the fine kudos. Paul
  19. And the engine, which is a model all by itself, sitting on the loading cart. Hope you all like her. Paul
  20. Here is my recently finished 1/32 F-16 Block 50. Another older kit, but also a testament to Tamiya's quality. Excuse some of the photos, still learning my new camera.
  21. Yeah Matt, these are Bob's Buckles. I think I lost more than I used, LOL.
  22. Grant, lol, brad isn't a person. That is an air brad nailer to go along with a finisher and a stapler. Thanks guys. Martin, I know the elavator in that booth lead down into a cavernous system of work rooms. Paul
  23. Here is my work area. It's a mess right now but it's my mess, totally. Fairly large and even bigger when I take the time to move the table saw out and into the basement proper. This is adjacent to the basement proper, which gives me more room to work. Right now I am building my own spray booth with suction. And some of my stash. So this is where I keep my sanity. And it stays down here, safe and sound.
  24. Here is a source for EZ-Line in different sizes AND colors. $12.95 a spool as opposed to WNW at $16.00 http://www.bobeshobbyhouse.com/ezl.html Paul
  25. The way the discussions were going about the forums future lately, I thought I might be getting some, LOL. Paul
