So with the F-5F nicely finished and sent off, I redid my model room and as promised, I immediately jumped into my next build, the glorious HKM Avro Lancaster Mk.X. Yes I said Mk.X, because I’m doing a Mk.X with plenty of postwar mods for the Maritime Patrol and S.A.R. Mission. Everyone is doing wartime birds, so I’m gonna be a bit different, just because I can There will be a touch of very minor kitbashing involved to get this to where I want it to be. I expect I’ll follow in the footsteps of the Intrepid Nige, and modify the seat and possibly a bit more in there. An Airscale panel will be present, and hopefully either HGW or RB belts. If other cockpit goodies become available in the next couple months, I’ll use them as needed. The rest of the build will be OOB, following the tweak list as shown in Nige’s thread. Side windows will be blanked off and an extra window cut into the rear fuselage for the lookout positions. Flame dampers, upper turret, and all guns will be eliminated. I’m waiting on decals that were promised in a month or so and I’m also hoping for pics of the sonobuoy and other mods by Lanc guys in Canada. Jeff was looking into that for me. So onward ho!

Hubert, what you lack in quantity you easily make up for in quality. I still remember some of your epic racer builds and conversions. That Mystery Ship shook me to my core. -

Not a conversion, but close enough. Still 7.62mm. -

So, I’m quitting for the night, utterly frustrated. I’ve so far, carted out three full industrial sized thick green garbage bags full of junk out to the bin. How on Earth do we accumulate so much JUNK? Plus garbage that somehow gets overlooked. I mean, I counted EIGHT empty RLM66 bottles. Who the hell saves empty paint bottles?!?!?!?! Apparently I do, because they’re there. And it’s not just a long ago thing, apparently it’s a recent phenomenon as well, because I found two empty Blueish-Grey bottles, all nicely lined up... So hopefully tomorrow after Sunday Mornin’ Meetin’ we’ll jump back in with both feet and get it finished. -

When you go through boxes youve long forgotten about, you occasionally find something unexpected. Much like what happened to me today. THIS is pure gold. Only one or two guys will know what this is, but those that do will love it. It hails from England..... -

This is gonna be a job! Plus, Joy wants the guest bedroom cleared just in case we pick up a stray tomorrow, so I’ll be pulling an all nighter to make this happen -

Yep. I built one about 7 years ago as one of my first builds and my very first conversion kit. Let’s just say I keep it as example of how far I’ve come since then.... -

I respect that as well. I’m the same way with Japanese Army stuff. What they did to Nanking is unforgivable. -
Paint odor is always a concern. My wife let’s me know when she smells anything. I use a respirator as well, but honestly, if I knew I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself. :/

Agreed on that Hubert. But like you I’m a sucker for a racers so I try to overlook the swastika -
Guys, Floyd’s releasing 10 of these long, long, LONG sold out V-14 conversion kits. A few of you asked me about mine, and Floyd is selling 10 on eBay for $50.00 each. Three including mine are sold as of right now. If you want the red V-14 racer conversion, this might be your last chance. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Werners-Wings-Resin-1-32nd-scale-Bf-109V-13-14-Conversion/263919869558?hash=item3d72d99e76:g:lJwAAOSwJFhbkGjK

I love the field expedient winter hatch on the RCAF overwing exit Good to know you won’t be tracking mud back inside when you come in after taking a break. “Wipe your feet before you come in!”

That’s an awesome read, Smitty! It’s good to know that Eastern European a Nations are getting their Air Forces up and running again. The conflict with Russia has been tough on Ukraine and I wonder about the spare parts situation for their front line aircraft. Didn’t Germany retire their entire fleet of freshly Westernized MiG-29s because of the lack of spare parts and the reliance on Russia for those spare parts? That being said, it’d be awesome for them to bring a road show over here for a few weeks se we can get up close and personal with the Ukrainian Air Force. The Brits get all the good stuff, now it’s our turn.
