The issue is, here people running are not required to wear a mask. It's one of the exceptions. China didn't keep cases low, the Taiwanese were about the best prepared and closing their boarders fast is what stopped things progressing. Your last paragraph is just appeal to authority or consensus, not a real argument. The same people were telling us that masks weren't effective and could actually contribute to infecting people a month or two ago. I am reminded though of this scene in Chernobyl; In any case it's a moot point, I wore mine when out today to avoid the fine. y -

There's been a couple of reports regarding people who supposedly caught it twice, but they are unconfirmed and there has been no study into it. It could be they had a false positive first time or the virus managed to linger in them for a while and resurfaced. I reckon if that was the case you'd be seeing that a lot where there have been major outbreaks. -

Well, not all Victorians, the screw up was the hotel quarantine which they think almost all cases can be traced back to now. -

It might, but if you're sick you should be at home. As I pointed out, if you're not sneezing or coughing etc, it's going to be difficult to transmit any virus. However, if I believe you and someone running can leave a 30 meter spread of this virus behind them floating in the air, then a mask isn't going to do me any good, a virus is small enough to pass right through it. So on one hand you argue that masks protect others, but then if you believe what you wrote about the virus being air borne, it makes wearing your mask virtually useless. Which is it? Yes, people are dying, numbers sound scary, but I can do that too. On average, 2-3 thousand people world wide died per day of this virus. 7 thousand per day died in that time of other lower respiratory diseases, diarrheal diseases over 4 thousand per day (major killer of children under 5), 5 thousand per day died of neonatal disorders, 3500 per day of TD, 3 thousand of Aids. These are just the communicable reasons. 50,000 people will die to day due to cardiovascular issues, 30,000 from cancer...on and on and on. -

Sorry, but you are being alarmist and leaving out a lot of "maybe" "could" "might" and "possibly" from your assertions regarding the virus. I am still not going to rely on a piece of fabric to protect me, as I said, only wearing one so I don't get fined, but under no illusion that it's some type of defence. Besides which, say you're correct and the virus is airbourne for a long time, it's going to be small enough to penetrate the fabric of a cloth mask. -

The World Health Organisations admits that there is actually no data on transmission from asymptomatic carriers. However, think about things logically, if you're not coughing or sneezing, you're not really putting out infectious droplets into the air around you, then it is unlikely you will infect people around you in a shop. Having said that I will be wearing a mask, only because it is a $200 dollar fine if you don't and I believe in giving the government as little money of yours that you can. However I'm not under any illusion that some thin piece of cloth is going to give me immunity from catching anything. -

It may have some effect there, but if you're sick you should be at home anyway. Which raises a concern about people feeling more protected, so taking more risks or staying out longer etc. A -

Now we have to wear a mask while outside. This sounds like the old "pots and pans for Spitfires", makes people feel good but not particularly effective. Especially so as they said we can wear anything, so no hospital grade stuff that might make a difference, just wear some cloth around your face. Yeh, that's not going to protect you. -
You know, why would you put up with that kind of attitude from the person you are spending a life with? People, especially men, work hard for our money, provided all the obligations are taken care of, who is anyone to question how the rest is spent? If a girlfriend or wife of mine ever started that kind of rubbish, she'd be shown the door pretty damn fast. In the words of Dave Chappelle; my money, my choice.

Also just make sure you check on friends and family at this time. My friend from my cricket club committed suicide a couple of weeks ago, leaving behind a wife and young son. We had no idea there was anything wrong, he just woke up one morning and drove his car into a tree. RIP J-P. -

Yep, all of Melbourne's suburbs, almost out to but not including Geelong. I'm up North of Melbourne close to the edge of the zone that is restricted. Plus there is one rural district included, up my way. -

40 more days of lockdown.....ugh -
I've had this kit in the stash for about 20 years and never really gave it much attention. Recently though I had a second look at it and despite a few parts suffering some sink marks, it didn't look too bad. Construction is actually pretty good, I used little in the way of filler, the turret required the most clean up but it is not beyond the most basic modelling skills. The driving lights suffered badly with sink marks, thus I pinched one from my spares box and re positioned it from the front armour to the top of the hull. I also left off the top bar securing the spare track links to the front of the hull, I guess crews left this off as it's 6 less bolts to remove when you need to change some track out quickly. I did like the separate track links in the kit as they supplied the flat straight pieces for top and bottom as a single bit, making building the track easier. One issue I did encounter is Italeri have left out the bottom pieces of the spare track mounts around the turret, thus I just left the top mounts on without any track mounted. Decals came from the spares box along with the two figures and the flag. Camouflage represents a generic Tiger sometime around Operation Zitadelle.

I worry about how much of our civil liberties we will actually get back in Australia. Police seem to have gone mad with the power, fining people for sitting on park benches, or in one case, a woman was fined for sitting in her car having a coke or harassing people just out doing the shopping. Fishing being banned is ridiculous and this is the problem, the more stupid restrictions you make, the less likely people are to follow them and the less respect authority will get. We all know, once a civil liberty is lost, very seldom do you get it back. -

Thanks mate. Yeh I know it does look like the figures are glossy, but I think the light is just picking up some of the pigment dry brushing, everything was hit with Tamiya matt. Looks better to the naked eye. -

Private gatherings are banned in Australia, you could be fined 10 grand or be put in jail. This might be a big controversial, but I'm starting to think that the cure might be worse than the disease now. Our economy is collapsing, Australia will be in 1 trillion dollars of debt with millions unemployed, there have already been many suicides of shop and business owners that the media is not reporting. My friend who works in the industry tells me the suicide hot line is ringing off the hook. This is a disaster. -

Boating and hunting banned too, there was just a new break that announced it from the government minister, so I'd say camping is soon to follow. Hell we already have the police out there stopping random people to ask why they are out and about. Several people have been fined for sitting on park benches by themselves. I really don't like this police state nonsense. -
I really don't know what you're trying to say Clunkmeister, but it seems to be a popular thread due to being a popular and wanted model and there's a lot more forum members there than here so you'd expect more discussion pages on topics.

Fishing is now banned here. These restrictions on our movements are now getting ridiculous. I can go for a walk down to the local river, but if I stand there by myself with my rod, I could get a $1600 fine. How am I going to catch anything by just doing that? I really feel that the government are going to get a backlash from people soon. -
I don't see much whinging, I do see people pointing out the shortcomings of the kit that they can see and that's a good thing. I mean when a company can't even spell it's own name correctly on the decal sheet, you have to ask some questions regarding their attention to detail. I want to hear this type of thing, it might have saved me buying their MiG 17 if I had seen a thread on it before I bought it. Note also that people pointing out the errors most also say they will be buying one.

Haha yeh, although I got a few frowns when she asked what I was putting in the microwave. Doing that kills off any rubbish in the dirt.
