This gem dates back from 1974 but the original tooling was 1972, over a half a century ago……I reckon this was one of my last kits I built before girls, cars and partying took over my life. It is showing its age with part lines  and a little flash but the nostalgic value is amazing. Not sure if to do a WIP, I’ll leave it to you guys……

Ooh, I remember building that myself back in the early 80s and making an absolutely appalling job of painting the figures. I also remember my attempt at the desert pink coming out a bit too close to 'Pink Panther' or strawberry Angel Delight than what I was aiming for.😁

Looking very good indeed, these 500’s were very prone to rust in the UK, I replaced the whole wing for one of my friends and patched the other wing with plod (P38) he was a cheap stake ……..

Not quite as bad as the Alfas but none of the 70s/80s Italian cars liked our UK climate much. A friend of mine inherited his mum's Alfasud as his first car and the underbody was so shot you could just about see the road between your feet!

I don’t know if you are being funny or not…but the chairs aren’t finished nor have they been painted. I am still waiting for two more sets to come in.

Yes, sorry just an attempt at humour. I realised it was still a work in progress and it is going to look great just like the street scene outside.

  4. Bench time has been a rare commodity recently but got a bit more progress done.

Weapons and pylons are assembled, as are the airbrakes, and everything has been painted. The green is rather lurid but it's correct and will be a nice contrast with the splinter cammo.

Next up is weathering these then flat coating everything including the main airframe. Had to order more matt varnish, so that has also contributed to the lack of progress.

Some are saying Lacquer Thinner but found this"I also read a thread some where that said a friend had Diosol analyzed and it was made up of 55% Xylene and 45% Toluene. I can buy Xylene, but have not been able to find Toluene. So I guess lacquer thinner might be the thing to get."

    old MRR forum:modelrailroadforums.com/forum/index.php?threads/what-is-a-good-substitute-for-dio-sol.18816/

So carcinogenic, mutagenic and highly flammable just for starters. Sounds like something to be avoided to me.

We used to use liquid scintillators at work which were based on either Xylene, Toluene or Benzene. We eventually decided none were worth the risk and ditched the tests that required them. Thankfully, the clinicians were happy to switch to a Carbon-13 alternative which just needed a mass spectrometer.

I had a t-shirt made with the distinctive outline of Angus Young on the front followed by the line “100% Australian Angus”

So many people stopped me wanting to know where I got the shirt from so they could buy one … I just gave them the website of the shirt printer.

    Rog :)

But born and made in Glasgow.....

Have to keep myself motivated, this thing needs loooooots of attention.

I'm a massive metal fan but I've just never rated this as an ACDC song. It just doesn't hit it for me for some reason. Give me anything from Powerage, Highway to Hell or Let There Be Rock before this. I think it's down to Chris Slade on the drums. He's a decent meat and potatoes drummer but just doesn't have the swing that Phil Rudd has with that distinctive 'back of the beat' rhythm.

Motivation for me needs to be a bit heavier, so I tend towards 80s Thrash metal with Anthrax, Testament, Metallica and Exodus being regular listening. Another reason why my wife leaves me well alone in the modelling room, never mind the odours! That's the paints, not me I hope. 🤪
