From Wikipedia:
The Pour le Mérite, known informally as the Blue Max (German: Blauer Max),[1] was the Kingdom of Prussia's highest order of merit. It was awarded strictly as a recognition of extraordinary personal achievement, rather than as a general marker of social status or a courtesy-honour, although certain restrictions of social class and military rank were applied. The award was given as both a military (1740-1918) and civil (1740-1810, after 1842 as a separate class) honour.
The award was founded in 1740, by the francophone Frederick the Great; it was intended primarily as a military honour, but was also sometimes given for civil accomplishments. New awards of the military class ceased with the end of the Prussian monarchy in November 1918.
Thnx for the link Erik. A francophile.... I should have known...
Here's the fuse with the wings on.
I used giant rubber biscuits to throw you guys off and make this build look like a 1/72.
Did it work?

Been waiting for this! Lovely!
This way they at least make up for lost business after the Revell offering hit the market.

Another fine fine build. Very subtle. Love it.
Still in the middle of this kit myself, but put aside for some nice WnW distraction.
Just recieved the Sopwith Snipe (thank you you know who!). So I don't think my spit will progress any time soon.
Thnx for the pics!

Beautiful Jeroen
Have always wondered why a German medal has a French name /French blurb on it??
As a quick aside whilst 'you are here' so as to speak, may I ask are all the British WWI fighters' machine guns now available in turned brass? I am such a WWI newb!
Thanks for sharing such stunning work
Nick
Hi Nick,
I don't believe so.
Master models has the turned brass. Easy for the Spandau's but the Vickers had grooves along the length which is more difficult to replicate.
And to be honest: brass would not add much realism to them.
Aber makes some really nice Spandau sets, but not for the early Spandau...

How long did it take to carve that prop? Excellent work it looks real!
I had this carved by Doug Cranes. Took a week i believe. I sanded it down again and sprayed it with micro gloss after i added the decals.

I bet it'd really annoy you if I told you I had a box of real ones here?
You Jim annoy me even without a box of real medals...

Hi Will,
I used Alclad Dark aluminum and hand painted the swirls with a fine brush and Mr Hobby chrome.
For the rigging i use EZ line and Bob's Buckles albion tubes.
Had to share this video i just found. The dog has a magnet in it I think and starts the engine:
