Especially with kits I've never built before, I'm usually skipping around building things out of order so this happens to me more often than I care to admit.    Also when I'm doing multiple builds at one time.  Worse things have happened!

It was 13 when I woke up and its 22 now (windchill of 17) so time to go hit the workbench and see how much more trouble I can get into!

Finally pulled the canopy masks off - showing a bit of touch-up to do.  the multi-part masks to cover the yellow window tape worked ok. And somehow some dust or something got inside the canopy.  Oops!

So more work to do.

Canopy masking looks so good and the touch up work will go flawlessly. I'm only hoping my Kingfisher canopy look half as good when I peel the masks off.

Wrapping this one up.  Not a fantastic build, but the idea was to get some experience for a future 1/32 and 1/48 F-4 Phantom in SEA camo.  The kit was for a Canadian F-4 and the decals were so old they shattered upon application.  But it still is a very cool looking aircraft so maybe somebody will make a nice kit one day!

This is the perfect example of a 5' model.  Looks good at 5'.  Don't come closer!!   To really do this plane up right, resin engines would be nice, and then some detailed armament.  And MUCH better pilot figures!  The decals I came up with are too thick, and too old anyway.

Oh yeah, this is a bit of a tail-sitter as well.  Had to stuff a nail (yep, a nail!) up through the front nose gear into the nose to keep in on all three tires.  Didn't take much weight, just a little.  Resin engines would make a huge difference, however.

There is life in these old kits, and a lot more detail than I remember.  Maybe we need and "Oldies but Goodies" build category.  I'm in!

Look pretty handsome from where I'm sat, great finish to an older kit , and again love the Voodoo, esp in this interesting cammo scheme. 😀

1985 tooling , when 1/48 meant upscaled 1/72 mostly , raised panel lines et all ....and compared to 2022 tooling .....we've come a long long way in under 40 years

We definitely have come a long way but it is good to see that some of the old kits still hav some life left in them.  I just wish there was a bit more AM for them to really spruce them up.  Thanks for the comment!

Some mighty fine work and your Voodoo looks fantastic. A tough kit to build and considering its age, terrific work. Nice choice on the finish - cammo. For me, it would have been a tossup between the SEA scheme and the earlier ADC all Gloss Gray. Just can't go wrong with either one and one of Mr Mac's great achievements.

Thanks Peter!  This was a warmup for a SEA F-4 Phantom, trying different things out.  I do wish there was a really good Voodoo kit out there!

Great job, Chris!  Lovely result.

Thanks Gary!  Much appreciated!  Glad I'm done so can spend more time on the Get Wet GB, and the next build.  Have to figure that one out tho.  What next?!
