A newcomer to my airbrush stable......

 

 

My first Harder  & Steenbeck.....

It's their, Infinity CR plus Giraldez.😀  Wowsers! What a colorful gem of an airbrush. 

This airbrush has some features that I found interesting including a set of what they call  "Sketching-caps" that are intended to aid the

operator to set the distance and locate the paint spray. The trigger cap has a ridge that is intended to insure the proper finger placement.

This I'll have to get used to, but I think it makes sense.

Well, I, of course, have been hearing great things about H & S products and I was happy to have found a Giraldez locally from Midwest Aibrush  Supply 😀

Don't get me wrong...I still love my IWATA  airbrushes . My Hi-line HP-BH with its .2 mm needle works great! 😀 I was happy

to discover that the airbrush will work just fine with the quick connects I have.

I've only had a little play , seems ok to me . Solid in construction even though t must be 15 years old .

Bit like the DeWalt/ Makita power tool dichotomy .....I have the Proxxon drill and transformer so went that direction 😀 ...oh and the hot wire table ....see these obsessions breed. ..and I'd buy German over Chinese tools most days of the week .

I have the Dspiae Sander . It's advantage is that it is light, and cordless. It works well.and I have found it useful.

It takes only 20 minutes to charge the thing😀

I've got the same sander as well as their rotary tool. The lightweight and compactness of both tools make them both great to use. The only possible downside to the rotary tool is that it only take Metric bits.

I have the rotary tool...but I found an adapter in the form of an adjustable chuck that allows different sizes...I bought it off Amazon... Admittedly, the

adapter looks a bit awkward.... But, It works. I'll see if I can find a link.

Thanks for sharing the link Paul. Fortunately I have a bunch of the 3mm diameter bits so I'm good.  But I'll keep it in mind if I ever do need it. 

One bit that I got is a small sanding pad. 

You stick self adhesive pre-cut sanding pads on the end and it works great in tight spots.

Yes, I have those too, but remember to keep the speed low when working with plastic.. Found out the hard way. They work well on Resin.

Just ask Rei Hazumi....

 

 

I use this adapter with small HSS drill bits (never tungsten!) To drill Friulmodel tracks with the speed of lightning.

A small, center drilled ,Teflon, disc between the end of the drill and the chuck helps to prevent damage the soft metal track links.

Sounds crazy, and dangerous ( perhaps irresponsible)  but it works😀 Risks are often worthy to avoid tedium.....No?...well, probably not.

Drilling out fruil tracks 😀😀😀😀yes i know that one well 

 

BTW Paul I saw a tutorial a while ago  about using very small dress makers pins instead of the brass wire , which is what I do these days with those tracks…makes them a lot more sturdy when you are  done

I have the hot wire table.  Really great for cutting foam boards, etc. for dioramas.

I used to have a DB250 small wooden lathe for my wooden ship models.  Really helped making masts and spars.  I ended up selling it when I upgraded to a Sherline lathe that can do both wood and metal turning.  Sometimes I kick myself as the DB250 was so easy to set up that I probably should have kept it just for that.  

All this to say, I've found the Proxxon tools to be good quality - at least the two I've owned.

They are good if you need to make quick small touch ups. Gun metal, wood base and rubber black i have used today.  Seem to work well.

AK makes all sorts of color combinations however I thought these two would best suit armor builds. I’m anxious to try them!

It's Tamiya's  ancient (1979) M113A1 Fire Support Vehicle in 1/35 (35107).

The only reason I bought this thing is that I built this kit around 1981 and I was surprised to see one for sale. A nostalgia thing, I guess.

Basically, it's a M113 with a Saladin turret added by the Australian military... A fun, Quick, build most likely😀

So, my haul from NATS.

First the registration packet contents. I did buy a shirt too.

What I bought a Squadron. The sanding sticks were free.

What I bought at the Z-M booth. No, I didn't get lucky in their raffle this year.

What I bought at MicroWorld Games.

What I bought at one of the other vendors. I assume it's Hasegawa plastic and it contains various Eduard detail sets included.

Bought at David Doyle Books. The Dioramag has an article of a ship model with ocean water. I thought I'd check it out in reference to the Nimitz project.

From Casemate books.

I had chosen to attend the paid airbrushing seminar by Grex. I wanted to do a little testing on a grex airbrush. I didn't know they also hand out a 'goody bag' with stuff from various vendors. The first one is the model that they pre-glue together for you to paint on. It is also Grex's 30th year.

In the end, I bought a Grex airbrush to further test out. I don't care for the trigger handle, though. I also wanted a 0.3mm airbrush with a 'fan cap'. I have a Creos 290 but that is a 0.5mm and blows way too much paint for my taste.

Your registration packet contains one raffle ticket and I added enough to have 25 tickets in it. 4 of 25 hit. The Verlinden books I already have (for decades.) I also have two of the P-61 kits in the stash with Monogram on the box. The fellow who handed me the Special Hobby kit seemed to be excited about it. He gave me the impression that it's a new release. I have to admit that I don't follow what's happening in 72 scale.

All in all, I had a great time. I was tired by Saturday. I met some new folks, saw some folks from last year, and saw some fabulous models. I had my 1/32 Bf110 and 1/32 Ki-100 there, but no awards. Not even a poker chip.
