Spitfire VII. C wing armament?

Hi again. 

I am currently working on a Spitfire Mk VII. I have C wing brass Master models 20mm Hispano cannons. The short stubs in the Hasegawa kit are much smaller than the brass. There is a choice of longer cannon barrels, which I can match with the kit. I am unsure what to do regarding the short stubs. One can see them here. The wing itself looks like this:

How shall I deal with this? Must I remove the protrusions on the wing and place the brass barrels within the wing, or butt join the barrels in the manner of the kit instructions?

You need to remove the stub on the wings and drill an appropriate sized hole to insert the Master barrels. In some of their 1/32 sets they include a diagram to show how far. I'll see if I can find one for you.
