Wingnut Wings WNW Fokker E.I - E.I 5/15 -
Ssasho0 replied to Umlaufmotor's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Hi Bertl, I have a question also - how do you made the cut on the bellow picture? Do you used the resin saw or some other tool? It doesn't look like made with a scalpel! Best regards, Sasho -
Wingnut Wings WNW Fokker E.I - E.I 5/15 -
Ssasho0 replied to Umlaufmotor's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Hi Bertl, I will be watching this build for tips and tricks (as usually). I was thinking that you will have to thin the cowl and then, voila, you thin it to "see thru" dimensions Good luck and try to keep to the OOB plan Best regards, Sasho -
The last few days I was finishing some small things here and there, patching and repairing damage etc. Also I started to repare for the rigging. This is the first time I will use the gaspatch turnbuckles and I warmed up with the tail - I declare the tail ready for now. I still ahve some repairs to do on the upper wing and then It will be glued and the rigging will start. AT the moment it is not glued and ailerons are also not glued. I plan to try doing my own wooden propeller if I fail I will use one of those supplied by the with the kit Here are the picture and as usually any comments, question constructive criticism and tips are welcomed. Best regards, Sasho

I am terribe withthe brush but Mr. Leveling colour thinner works wonders!

A small update - I worked on the engine covers and got them ready (more or less) and started to prepare for the rigging. Then I decided to test fit all the parts ready for now and took some pictures. I really really like how this build is progressing

WNW Albatros DVa ''Red 3" (Maybe...)
Ssasho0 replied to dms340's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Looking great! Uschi's decals are really awesome! I noticed that you put the oil tank on - be warned that if you glued t already and close the fuselage, fitting the engine may be an issue! When I was building my Albie, I closed the fuselage, painted it and then added the engine - its way easier to mask without the engine. Looking forward to the next update. Regards, Sasho -
Bf 110 Schemes.... I can't Bloody Choose... Help!!
Ssasho0 replied to Dave J's topic in Modelling Discussion
A guy on my local forum finished a Bf110 in the second option and believe me it look absolutely gorgeous! Still I would like to see a different camo scheme now, so I voted for option #1. Selfish I know :-P -
Thank you again for the comments, they are much appreciated! This kit is really AWESOME, if someone want to try a wooden fuselage kit, this one is way better than any of the Albatros DV/DVa kits! As I said I'm working on the undercarriage and I got some more decals on and I started to get all those nail visible, which is a tiresome task :-/ but the result is pleasing my eye. Too bad my photocamera skills are really non existing and I can't get decent picture, showing how it really looks like. Here are two of the better pictures. I will try with better light tomorrow during the day again. As mentioned before, the Aviattic Lozenge decals are truly excellent and as I have experience with Uschi's wooden decals - they also are excellent even thou I decided not to use them for this particular project! best regards, Sasho

Thank you guys for the kind words, I'm seriously working on the wings and wheels at the moment - pics to follow up soon

This days I was working exclusevile on this model and I enjoy every minute of this build, WnW have done awesome job on this one. The model got too orange, but its more or less the actual colour seen in the manual :-/ I would hav eliked to be a tiny bit lighter but anyway, it is looking good - orange, but good. Here are some pics, sorry for them being too dark, I will make the ones for the next update lighter. Bets regards, Sasho

My Eindecker EIV arrived on 30th Dec 2013, its a wonderfull kit and I will be starting it immediately after I finish my current WnW build (ROland DVI) or even before finishing completely Waiting for the HGW belts from Grant now. Best regards, Sasho Ps: I will be dedicating this to the Great War GB also - should this thread be moved to the Great War GB by the administration or should stay here?

Thank you very much for the good words guys, I really appretiate them! Now back to the model, I closed the fuselage and put the engine at its place, it fitted perfectly but quite tight. As mentioned in myriad of posts before - the WnW fit tolerance is really very narrow! Then I worked on the wood grain of the fuselage. The state now is with e side varnished with mix of clear yellow and orange and teh other unvarnished yet. It still needs a day or two to cure the oils completely. Then I will finish the wings and put them at their respective place . Here are few pictures including two with the lower wing and the way it is going to look :) As usually any remarks, questions, criticism or comments are welcomed! Best regards, Sasho

hehe congratulations on the camera Grant, I also received a similar christmass gift from me for me (approved by my wife): Samsung NX300 - not a DSLR but pretty damn good also. The second thing that I found under the christmass tree was WnW Fokker EIV so I'm ready for the eindecker GB now Best regards, Sasho

Wingnut Wings WNW Mercedes D.IIIa "The Engine"
Ssasho0 replied to Umlaufmotor's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Happy new year Bertl! I am still waiting for you to finish it as I need the perfect guidebook to detailing the Mercedes DIIIa engine Kepp up the good work, you are inspiration best regards, Sasho -
This is really great move from HGW and their belts are first class! Thank you very much genlemen. Here comes the question:How can I get one of those HGW belts sets? Should I write to Grant from Arrow Wolf or directly from HGW? Best regards, Sasho

21 Euro at Nordland models without the shipping. Please note that they have some really high shipping rates :-P http://www.nordlandmodels.com/product/wingnut-wings-volume-1:17004/

SOme actual photos of the engine, I wonder if more grime and oil is needed or it is enough? The exhaust is not glued yet.
-
I got my copy from Nordland Models and while the book is all that was said it is I'm just a tiny bit dissapointed. Not because of the information, techniques and build inside of it - they are perfectly fine. It is just because the book is lacking somehting very small to become really impressive. I can't quite formulate what exactly but the book doesn't "ooze" quality for some reason. Maybe just my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong - the book is excellent and it will serve as modeling techniques source of information and inspiration. It just lacks somehting ... best regards, Sasho

Last night I started the woodwork on the inside of the fuselage. I tryed few different types of preshading and oil colours and got some important lesson learned before starting the outside I feel more confident now regarding the colours and the wood grain, I will just have to increase the tweak the contrast between the different planks a little bit. While te inside is drying I will finish the engine and the wings. Then it will be the most important part for this build - the outside of teh fuselage! Also I'm adding an engine picture from few days ago. As usually any comments, questions, recomendations are more than welcomed. Best regards, Sasho
