Shelf of doom build back on the bench ... Underside "Sky Type S-Gray (71-021)" started with XF-80 Royal Light Grey undercoat, followed by random mottles/scribbles of XF-19 Sky Grey; a 4:1 mix of XF-2 Flat White and XF-19; XF-12 JN Gray; and some left0ver "RLM 02 (1:2:4 mix of XF-2, XF-22 RLM Grey, XF-57 Buff). Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ralph.

Thanks Kent. I've had some strange results with the Gunze RLM acrylics. Spray beautifully; decal/seal/weather/seal/flat coat the model; come back 6 months later only to find very fine cracks in the paintwork. Will try some home-mixed 71/02/65 from Tamiya acrylics for the next one. Cheers, Ralph. -

Great to see the progress Kent. A colourful and unusual scheme - well worth having a go at. Can I ask who's points you used for the camo colours? In the earlier pics they look too matte to be Gunze acrylics. Cheers, Ralph. -

New and unwanted "Related Searches" menu bar?
rieser replied to rieser's topic in General Discussion
Steve, Rob: thanks for your responses. Turned out to be "brouser hostage" malware. Modelling plans scuttled for the afternoon... Cheers, Ralph. -
Is anyone else getting a "Related Searches" menu bar popping up on the left-hand side of the screen which has (?) links to things like "Plastic Model", "Aircraft for Auction", Plastic Model Kits", Used Airplanes For Sale", and others? It only started happening in the last 24 hours. Would appreciate any help in getting rid permanently as closing it only removes it for a very short time. Cheers, Ralph.

Paulo: many thanks for your generosity. Very much appreciated. I hope I can return the favour some day. Cheers, Ralph.

Might anyone have access to 32nd scale plans - including rivet detail - suitable for use with Hasegawa's Fw190 D-9? Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Ralph.

Hello Dave. What is is about the WNW kits - so rarely do we see an average one, let alone a bad one. You make these kit look so easy. Love the green scheme you've modelled and the finish you've achieved. Great stuff. Cheers, Ralph. -
Revell's old Ju87 B-2 and the first naive attempts at weathering a large scale model. Tamiya tape and Gunze RLM acrylic colours for the hard-edged camo; Chris Wauchop's "Tamiya flat black/red-brown mix" for the exhaust stains and post-shading; and a few Tamiya enamels thinned with white spirit for the chipping. Can be scary looking backwards!! Not seen too many of the Trumpeter Stukas built. Perhaps it's time to give one a go... Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ralph.

Hello Doug. Looking forward to your exploits with this one. Cheers, Ralph.

Cheers Gents - hopefully the coming Revell Spitfire (s) will hit the mark. Matt: I found these links to the 2009/10 posts. Unfortunately I can't find one that shows/describes the weathering. From memory the general grime/stains were done with Testors Dullcote tinted with very small amounts fo Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black and XF-64 Red Brown. Washes were done with cheap kid's acrylic paints, and the metallic chipping done with a 2B pencil. The topside "leaks" were done with thinned Games Workshop/Citadel Babab Black acrylic wash and a fine brush, and the underside ones with MIG 502 Abteilung Abt090 Industrial Earth. http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1258444871/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I+Rivets http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1259894055/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I+WIP+Cockpit http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1261273328/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I+ALCLAD+II+undercoat http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1261795872/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I+Undersides http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1263108755/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I+WIP+Camo http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1265091602/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I++Markings http://www.network54.com/Forum/47751/message/1265333637/1-32+Hasegawa+Spitfire+Mk-I+Reworked

Hasegawa's old Spitfire Mk.I modelled as F/O Robert Stanford-Tuck's K9906 some years back. The model was rescribed, riveted, and painted using Gunze acrylics. Markings were painted on using custom masks supplied by Mal Mayfield. Recently rephotographed against a black background for posting on FB... Thanks for looking. Cheers, Ralph.

Hello Jason: well that certainly looks the business on the sprues. Hoping to see a WIP thread soon. Cheers, Ralph.

Hello Rick: great result. Great scheme and very pleasing to the eye. Love the "ground-in" grime look - very effective. Cheers, Ralph.

More vodka in the paint mix should fix that spatter Bevan! Solid start - certainly getting there now. Some nice thin filters should take care of any remaining overspray challenges.
