  1. That's not Ernie but I do believe it may be Gary Hatherly . Yep hid under the wing outta sun Wasn't that veteran a retired B-52 pilot ..standing next to his aircraft. Harvey missed all the PIMA visit because he and Bev driving to see his children...? when we were altogether Harvey was super happy. I recall, I got into the IPMS before it actually opened to see the tables etc, vendors setting up by bribing the guards ..Ernie and Harvey were with ME.... we had a good look see until we left to come another day to see the actual show... Those were good happy days....
  2. Absolutely .... I concur. I sat next to you .
  3. Ernie(or Cupcake as I call him..gave him the name at Phoenix IPMS show) phoned Me to tell Me about Harvey's passing. I listened to his voice mail a dozen times as I could not or would not process that my beloved dearest friend Harvey had gone to Heaven. I met Harvey, Ernie, Tim, Radu et al at the Phoenix IPMS show in 2018 and instantly took to them all. Harvey and I had been in contact before then and we would have long, really long telephone conversation and he, I thought, was a wise, mindful, lovely gentleman and an AWESOME friend. Even MY Mom loved him. I met him and his wife Bev in their hotel room ( we were all in the same hotel at that time) and he had brought some gifts for Me... a blue tee shirt with Shell Knob emblazoned on the front, a Happy Mug and tea spoon, and loads of beaded necklaces from the Mardi Gras, which I still wear from time to time... I always remembered him when I did with a sweet fondness. Our conversations always ended with him saying, "Love you Maru" My reply was "love you too". He was an exceptionally amazing person whom I could lean on when my Mom passed away he was there for Me. I am going to miss his smile, his phone calls, his voice , his laughter, his joking, and I have lost a truly super friend. It is very rare to find a human being who thinks of others, and looks after them, guides them and is absolutely there for you when you need them. He was without malice or a mean bone in his body. Harvey was that person. He was kind, astute, yet humble. Truly a remarkable gentleman and I am proud to have been his friend. And Thank you Harvey for your Services. As you can see in the photos that Tim posted, I am so happy to be with 2 of my best friends Cupcake and Harvey. I remember going out to evening meal and in that photograph he, Harvey , is how I still think of and remember him. I see Harvey and Ernie are wearing the tee shirts that I had made and given out to each of those in that group photo. Harvey is truly missed and I hope he is resting in Peace. Gone maybe but I will not forget him ever. Beautiful man inside and outside with a good Soul. I wish his family all the best in this sad times and send Bev and his children my sincerest condolences for their loss. Rest in Peace Harvey dearest friend. MARU 5137.

  17. Guy trains to fly the fastest machine he’s ever been let loose in - a classic frontline fighter jet - as he also explores the origins and future of the jet engine. Guy Martin's, motorcycle mechanic to presenter and NOW learns to fly a jet and flies the De Havilland Vampire in Switzerland between the mountains as other fighter jets have.. Brilliant, Fascinating and exhilarating to watch him explain things. From visiting the Derby's Rolls Royce site ( I've been there MYSELF ) where he sees the world's largest Engine to finally fly the Vampire to the delight of the Swiss jet pilot who has been flying the Vampire since 1970s... Enjoy. MARU 5137
  18. Welcome aboard an EA-18G Growler catapult shot off the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), somewhere near Wake Island in the beautiful Pacific Ocean. This was a 59K MAX power Case I launch off catapult 3 on a day training sortie. Look at the color of the water. Absolutely amazing. Fly Navy! **CORRECTION to the narration** In the jam, I mention "the Shooter" when I'm on the catapult. Since this was a bubble launch, the Shooters were actually in the bubble and the Catapult Safety Observer (CSO), an ABE (Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Launch/Recovery), is the Sailor who tells me to run up the throttles and gives me the final "thumbs up" prior to launch. The CSO is an enlisted Sailor. Al Shooters are Officers.
  19. ONE learns a lot from this forum. Thank you Gentlemen. Here's another interesting video... U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II stealth fighters are conducting short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) training aboard the U.S. Navy’s latest America-class amphibious assault ship, USS Tripoli (LHA-7). The concept of a "Lightning Carrier" involves adapting amphibious assault ships to specialize in the operation of F-35B stealth fighters, allowing them to function similarly to aircraft carriers. Typically, amphibious assault ships are designed to support Marine Corps landing operations, but a "Lightning Carrier" is capable of carrying a significant number of F-35B jets and can serve as the focal point for air operations, much like a traditional aircraft carrier. ENJOY. MARU 5137
  20. Dennis , SUPER duper photographs. Thank you.

  22. Normally, it takes over an hour to start up a B-52 bomber, but a method called "cartridge starts" or "cart-starts" can reduce the startup time to under 10 minutes. A small-controlled explosive called a starter cartridge, filled with approximately 4 lb (1.8 kg) of gunpowder, is placed into each engine to quick-start the B-52.
  23. Mark, Impressive photographs. AWESOME. Thank you for sharing them.
