  14. Guy trains to fly the fastest machine he’s ever been let loose in - a classic frontline fighter jet - as he also explores the origins and future of the jet engine. Guy Martin's, motorcycle mechanic to presenter and NOW learns to fly a jet and flies the De Havilland Vampire in Switzerland between the mountains as other fighter jets have.. Brilliant, Fascinating and exhilarating to watch him explain things. From visiting the Derby's Rolls Royce site ( I've been there MYSELF ) where he sees the world's largest Engine to finally fly the Vampire to the delight of the Swiss jet pilot who has been flying the Vampire since 1970s... Enjoy. MARU 5137
  15. Welcome aboard an EA-18G Growler catapult shot off the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), somewhere near Wake Island in the beautiful Pacific Ocean. This was a 59K MAX power Case I launch off catapult 3 on a day training sortie. Look at the color of the water. Absolutely amazing. Fly Navy! **CORRECTION to the narration** In the jam, I mention "the Shooter" when I'm on the catapult. Since this was a bubble launch, the Shooters were actually in the bubble and the Catapult Safety Observer (CSO), an ABE (Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Launch/Recovery), is the Sailor who tells me to run up the throttles and gives me the final "thumbs up" prior to launch. The CSO is an enlisted Sailor. Al Shooters are Officers.
  16. ONE learns a lot from this forum. Thank you Gentlemen. Here's another interesting video... U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II stealth fighters are conducting short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) training aboard the U.S. Navy’s latest America-class amphibious assault ship, USS Tripoli (LHA-7). The concept of a "Lightning Carrier" involves adapting amphibious assault ships to specialize in the operation of F-35B stealth fighters, allowing them to function similarly to aircraft carriers. Typically, amphibious assault ships are designed to support Marine Corps landing operations, but a "Lightning Carrier" is capable of carrying a significant number of F-35B jets and can serve as the focal point for air operations, much like a traditional aircraft carrier. ENJOY. MARU 5137
  17. Dennis , SUPER duper photographs. Thank you.

  19. Normally, it takes over an hour to start up a B-52 bomber, but a method called "cartridge starts" or "cart-starts" can reduce the startup time to under 10 minutes. A small-controlled explosive called a starter cartridge, filled with approximately 4 lb (1.8 kg) of gunpowder, is placed into each engine to quick-start the B-52.
  20. Mark, Impressive photographs. AWESOME. Thank you for sharing them.
  21. I agree.
  22. Ah thank you Hubert. Great knowledge you have. Thank You Sir.
  23. Peter, Totally... they are very much enthusiastic about all sorts of hobbies, from plastic aircraft model aircrafts to Ships, to cars and Dioramas. The whole country is extremely pristine and clean.. you don't find any litter and there are NO trash bins in public places, not in restaurants, not in drinking places(Inns) or in towns and cities. There is NO smoking allowed in streets, rural or otherwise. The Air is SO fresh and you do not walk wafting through other people's smoke! sidewalks have round yellow grates with warning telling you "NO SMOKING IN STREET" IN Japanese & English. You do not see any cigarette stubs etc.. One takes their trash back home to dispose of or in hotels trash bins if like ME you stated in hotels. Even hobbyist who collect bugs..are enthusiastic !! They have training and guidance instructions for any Earthquake that may occur. Children are taken from school to experience the simulation of an Earthquake by going inside these educational white Earthquake Vans. Also it is for adults and foreigners who have never been in an Earthquake unless of course you are from California and other such places. The gentleman (the Caucasian ) caught in MY camera is Meindert..you may have seen his contributions on other forum ( LSP). The Japanese pride themselves in keeping everything pristine, clean and as yo7 can see their Fire Engine and Fire Engine House is IMMACULATE. You do not see utility vehicles with dirty exterior nor any other vehicles, privately-owned or otherwise. Bicycles are properly parked as are electric scooters. I absolutely loved seeing how clean it was. It's a VIRGO's Heaven !! And not a Pot Hole on the roads in sight. Motorways kept tidy and amazingly clean...perfection !! I wish the roads in MY country were like that... and overgrown foliage cut down. in the photograph of the Tokyo Tower, kids are playing Baseball and their coach is nearby.
