  1. LOL Gaz. It's well along but the fit of the wings to the fuselage is BAD. I've had to do a lot of trimming and shimming to get a proper dihedral. Super glue, putty, and plastic strips are necessary. A bit of a cuss factor I have to say. I think the Trumpeter folks had the "B" team on this area.
  2. Thank you Gaz! I appreciate the compliment.
  3. Thanks Peter. It does look nice sitting next to the other racers.
  4. Thank you Peter. This one is giving me fits as it doesn't FIT! Wings to fuselage had them drooping so I had to do some surgery on the roots and make some super glue adjustments. Also problems with the exhaust shrouds not sitting "right". I've put it away for today and will get back to it tomorrow.
  5. This should really be a great looking model. I look forward to seeing the end result!
  6. Done with the '26 so now it's back to the Houstonian P-51. This a/c, as on my earlier racer P-51C build, has the dorsal strake. No problemo since I have (had) several I can transplant.
  7. Done with this one. Check here: https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/15149-icm-a-26b-air-racer-finished/
  8. Done with this one. When I first saw a photo of this a/c I knew I wanted to build it. I replaced the kit props (which are WAY inaccurate) with some from a Monogram kit which are accurate. I also used some True Details resin wheels to replace the kit wheels. Painted with Testor's and decaled with Draw Decals. Tinting the inside of the canopy worked out okay as I was a little concerned about that process. LOL Hopefully you guys will like it.
  9. I hope to have the '26 finished today then will get back to this build.
  10. Agreed Peter. I went on and used Scotch tape which I really do not like to use because it can leave behind patches of "stickum" which can make a mess, etc. At any rate, Scotch tape it is. I've applied the flat white base coats and the first coat of gloss white so, hopefully, I'll finish it up today sometime.
  11. I've been waiting for the Eduard canopy masks to show up and they FINALLY did this morning. And they turned out to be for the EARLIER version with a different canopy! All I can use from the set are the parts for the rear canopy. I'll have to use Scotch tape for the pilot's canopy which is what I DIDN'T want to do in the first place! 😠
  12. On hold for the moment while I finish the A-26 racer. Back soon!
  13. LOL That would be a neat deal!
  14. I have a red/yellow one for later on Gaz.
  15. Keeping busy Carl. Oil all over probably from running it hard racing would be my estimation. 😉
  16. Since I'm into building air racers right now I decided to build another Trumpeter P-51B air racer. This time it will be "The Houstonian". Not quite as flashy as my others but still a good looking racer.
  17. Nice work Rod. Very well done!
  18. Thanks Peter. I think this one will go well with my other air racer builds and the P-38 airshow bird.
  19. Thanks Martin.
  20. Got the exhaust stains applied so now I'll be ready to attach the wings later today. I also tried my hand at window tinting since this a/c did have the canopy tinted.
  21. LOL Peter! If I remember correctly I painted the body of that car something like candy apple purple using a rattle can. At the time I thought it looked great! LOL
  22. This is certainly something out of the usual aircraft builds! I'm sure it will be a great looking model. I think the last car model I built was a "32 Ford jalopy way back in the 60's.
  23. Yes it is a nice touch and sure makes attaching the exhausts easier.
  24. Coming along. Just waiting for the canopy masks.
  25. I'm waiting for some canopy masks (due Sat.) to arrive so, in the mean time, I have decided to paint the wings. Three coats of flat white and two of gloss so far. I'll probably apply one more coat of gloss white then I intend to add the exhaust stains. Since the wings aren't attached to the fuselage yet it should be easier to apply the stains. When the paint masks show up I'll paint the fuselage and then attach the wings. Should be easy peasy since when I did a test fit they fit great with no big seams to worry about. Fingers crossed!
