  1. LOL!!! ðŸĪŠ
  2. Thanks Peter. I think after painting they will appear even better.
  3. I have decide to go on and get this one started. The biggest drawback right now is the heavy rivet details on the tops of the wings. My "solution", which seems to help minimize them, is brushing on a heavy coat(s) of Mr. Surfacer 500. Sand that smooth and overspray with Alclad Gray Primer/Microfiller. If needed spray twice. Here's a pic of the results of my 1st try. Quite a bit better I think. I don't plan, at least at this point, to do that to the whole airplane but I won't completely rule it out. I have the Aires cockpit set and gear doors ordered from SB. Also a new canopy set from Aerocraft Models in the UK. I have on hand some P-51 wheels from Barracudacast. Here's the a/c I intend to model. 4th FG flown by Deacon Hively. I haven't been able to find his markings in 1/32 so I will re-scale them from a 1/48 Aeromaster sheet and print 'em out on clear decal paper using my laser printer. Fingers crossed all will go well!!!
  4. I've begun some preliminary work on the wings by brushing on some Mr. Surfacer 500, sanding smooth, and then over spraying with Alclad Gray Primer and Microfiller. It's helping to minimize the heavy rivet details and looks like it will be a fair solution. I'll start a WIP this weekend.
  5. Thank you Rob. I didn't polish the clear parts. They were nice and clear right off the sprues. 😀
  6. Thanks Gaz! I'm pleased that you like it.
  7. Thank you! I'm pleased that you like it.
  8. I appreciate the nice comments Peter and I pleased you like it. Makes the effort worth while! Thanks!!!
  9. Thanks! I'm pleased you like it. The nice comments from my peers makes this worth while!
  10. Thank you Dennis.
  11. All done with this one. Mods include the Vector engines, cowlings, and props and True Details wheels. I replaced the loop antenna with one from my "spares" stash which is more in scale. I also replaced the radio antenna after breaking the kit one (twice!). Exterior paints are Model Master and Colorcoats. Decals are by Zotz with some of the national insignias are from the kit. I hope y'all like the results of my efforts!
  12. All done. Check completed works.
  13. I'm seriously considering Deacon Hively's 4th FG OD and gray a/c with invasion stripes. Unfortunately it doesn't appear there are any 1/32 decals for it. I have a sheet of 1/48 for his a/c that I can scan, re-scale and print on my laser printer. Wish I could find a 1/32 sheet for it but it is what it is I guess.
  14. At some point, yes Peter. Not sure it'll be next though. I want to get all the after market stuff first (the Malcom hood will come from England).
  15. I've been giving this kit a more thorough look. It appears I'll need some after market parts for a better model. Aerocraft Malcolm hood and screen, Aires cockpit, Quickboost gear doors. We'll see if there are others later.
  16. Excellent Peter! Keep up the good work!
  17. Thanks George. I appreciate that.
  18. Thanks Gaz. I hope to finish it up in a day or two.
  19. LOL Rob. I think it depends on the a/c the paint is on. The 3-tone fits the Ventura just right while the GSB fits the Corsair just right. On the other hand, the Hellcat and Wildcat look good in either. Just my humble opinion.
  20. Thank you Peter. It won't be long before this one goes in the "done" column.
  21. Painting done. Next is a bit of weathering.
  22. Thanks! This is such a easy kit to build it just doesn't take a lot of time to get it done. The main "time consumer" has been the new nacelles. Right now the underside white and intermediate blue sides are done.
  23. A really nice build Rob! I like it! I too have some HGW decals and will probably use some of them at some point but the info you provide here shows how "iffy" they can be. Keep up the good work!!!
  24. Soon Dennis!
  25. Thank you Ernie! I agree 100%. The cowlings "make" the model and the tri-color paint job should really finish it off! 😀
