I use what I call "Scale Black" which is a mix of MM flat black and flat white. Just enough white to lighten it up a bit. I just eyeball it until I get the shade I want. You don't have to use MM as any brand should do. I just prefer MM. Hope this helps.

Indeed!!! A Corsair on the SOD shelf! LOL

Yes, a bit more snow and more to come. Right now it's sleeting. Rather rare is a understatement! We MIGHT get a sprinkling of snow every winter but THIS is unheard of.

Well crap! Now my water lines have frozen even though I let them run. City is experiencing low water pressure and we are under a boil advisory. I'm glad I have enough H2O in my kettle for my morning coffee!
-
Yep, they do but I'm out of room for more cases.

I hadn't realized I'd built so many until I decided I better count 'em! LOL P-51's and Corsairs are like rabbits around here!
-
Yes indeed Peter. This will be my 9th! Close behind the Corsairs LOL.

I hear that!! We in NW Louisiana are in the same boat.

Our low last night was 1 degree! Right now it's a scorching 20 degrees. We have about 3 inches of snow and expect more snow and freezing rain late this evening. That's what I call toucas freezing weather! Pretty darn cold for NW Louisiana. I'm keeping my feet and lower legs warm by wearing a pair of my Luftwaffe flying boots. Still a useful item after something like 80 years.

Thanks Martin. As you can see from the photos he evidently flew more than one a/c (or the markings were changed at some later date). I'm choosing the earlier markings for my model.

I have always liked the Bout One Mustangs of the ROK AF so now that Tamiya has provided us with the needed decals and bits needed to build one I'm going to get with the program and model this one flown by Dean Hess. Should make a eye catching model.

Thanks Peter. I've come to a point where I can't do any more until the cowlings I ordered show up. Tracking says Friday. Maybe, maybe not. At any rate, I have to have SOMETHING to work on so I'm starting another Tamiya P-51D. I'll have something in WIP shortly.

That's going to be a really good looking F-16 Peter!

VERY glad to see you back Peter!!!!

I'm pleased to say I've had both of my vaccine shots so I feel "safer" now. Still will wear my mask when going to the store, etc. -
I'm a little surprised how good the fit is. No real problems to speak of. I didn't want to fiddle with drilling the fiddly little ports. Too much of a chance to screw something up! Hopefully the resin replacement cowls will show up soon.

I just ordered some replacement cowlings on ebay so now I'll have to go slow on the build until they arrive. It's just about to the stage where it needs a coat of primer. Wish I had thought to order those earlier on!

Thanks Phil. This version was a 2 seater.

This kit is still on my SOD but it's possible I'll get back to it at some point. Not soon though.

Thanks! I have 2 different resin life rafts for this kit. One is from TD but the one I used is Vector.
