  1. The Hasegawa P-40's are really good. The Trumpeter kits have shape and accuracy issues. 🙄
  2. The belts are FineMolds Peter. Not exactly "perfect" but they will do. LOL
  3. LOL I'm glad you are optimistic Peter but I have my doubts. Time will tell.
  4. I've decided this will be my next build. Appears to be a really nice kit and, I hope, everything will fit okay. The cockpit assembly went very well with good fit throughout although pretty "fiddly" at times. I plan to model a 43 Squadron bird instead of either of the schemes supplied in the kit.
  5. Thanks Peter. As I said to Kurok, I'll work on it from time to time, etc and we'll see how it goes.
  6. Thanks! I've done a little more work on it and have pretty well "patched" the holes but the nose is slightly "oval" where it attaches to the nose of the kit which makes for a contour problem. Looks like it'll be a bear to conform. I'll still work on it from time to time but it won't be my "main" work subject but just something to do when whatever kit I'm working on has a pause, etc. 🙄
  7. That's good Peter. Take it easy and keep your fingers crossed.
  8. I hope all goes well today Peter. Fingers crossed.
  9. Thanks Peter!!! It had it's moments!
  10. I too am so used to 1/32 I now find it difficult to see things in 1/48. Especially the little fiddly bits! I started the new Eduard 1/48 Wildercat yesterday and it was tough to see the smaller pieces, etc. 🤪
  11. Lots of hurdles alright. It came close to hitting the SOD but I just couldn't do that after doing so much work on it. Still far from perfect but I'm pleased with the results (and the name fits right in with our Louisiana weather right now!).
  12. Finished with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19591-revell-p-51d-louisiana-heat-wave-completed/
  13. Saved from the SOD and I'm glad I did. I think it turned out well and I like it's looks. I hope y'all do too. OOB except for some FineMolds seat belts a Tamiya instrument panel and canopy. Painted with Alclad for the NMF. The green nose is Colourcoats Willow Green. Other paints were Testor's, Mr. Color and Tamiya. Decals are mostly from Aeromaster.
  14. Like my youngest son used to say when he was a baby and we tried to feed him some baby food he did not like "Can't like it"! LOL
  15. I've been dickering with this build off and on trying to get the nose to fit half way decently. Unfortunately this is about as good as I can get it. It'll require quite a bit of work to make it look "right" and I'm not real sure it can be made to look "right" as the Trumpeter nose has some significant differences in contour, etc. I plan to keep on it from time to time so we will see. 🤪
  16. Too friggin' hot isn't it Hubert?!
  17. The name is even more appropriate since our high yesterday was a record 107!!!
  18. Thanks. Took a lot of whipping too! LOL
  19. Painting completed! A few small uh oh's but nothing drastic. WHEW!!! 🤪
  20. Thanks. My fingers are crossed there are no more "Uh oh's" but we will see. I've returned to what I know works for me ie enamels instead of acrylics. For some reason the acrylics are a problem. Still have to be careful masking over the Alclad as sometimes it will jump up and bite you.
  21. So far so good on resuming work on this one. The right side painting, etc is done so now it's on to the left side.
  22. Agreed Peter! Fingers crossed!!!
  23. Looking good in primer Peter.
