  1. A lot of the island based Corsairs suffered from bright sunlight and sand which was tough on the finish. Carrier based didn't have that problem.
  2. Today's progress. Landing gear is next then the outer wings.
  3. LOL I keep them in glass commercial display cases so they don't get dusty, etc.
  4. Cockpit looks great Peter. Tamiya is another way to spell "stress reliever". LOL
  5. Send me a photo of the "problem child" Phil. Maybe I can be of some help.
  6. Thanks Bryan. They had a tough row to hoe in those days!
  7. Thanks! It's a great kit.
  8. I've done that too and it does help.
  9. Thanks Gaz. I'm glad you like it.
  10. All finished up Gaz. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19174-icm-b-26k-completed/
  11. Thanks Dave. Yes, I have to watch myself of I will screw up and forget a step or something. LOL Those Barracudacal cockpit decals are really nice and add a lot to the cockpit. However, they can be a bear to use since they are so small etc. I look forward to seeing your update pics.
  12. What parts did you screw up? It's possible I might have some you could use since I've built so many Corsairs. Lots of unused stuff left over. I'd need the parts numbers.
  13. If you do go with the Tamiya cockpit be sure to get some Barracudacals for the Corsair cockpit. Otherwise I'd go with Quinta.
  14. Been there done that Bill!!! Here's a peek at my "hardware". Worked fine and gave me good relief for several years but now, not so good. NOT going to do it again though!
  15. I plan to get a Halberd 1/32 or 1/48 SC-1 Seahawk, a MicroMir XB-51 in 1/72, and a Revell new mold 1/32 Hurricane. Maybe some others depending on what shows up. I just ordered a Halberd 1/32 Cavalier Mustang conversion for the Tamiya kit. Looks really nice!
  16. Phil I don't see a problem. Everything looks fine to me.
  17. Making good progress on the cockpit.
  18. Thanks Phil. You'll have to refresh my memory. Can you send a photo?
  19. Thank you Phil. Very much appreciate the nice comment.
  20. Thank you Hubert! No, I think my record build was something like 6 days or so. I don't remember what the kit was. LOL
  21. Thank you Peter. I think it will look fine and will go well with my other Corsairs.
  22. I expect you guys must be tired of my Corsair builds but that's okay. I don't plan to stop at this time though. This will be my 6th Tamiya Birdcage build (my favorite Corsairs are the Birdcage and the -1D). The photos here are in "Swashbucklers and Black Sheep". The decaling/painting diagram is from the Techmod sheet. I'll be using some EagleCal national insignia but the a/c number, etc will be Techmod. One thing I've always liked about the Birdcage Corsairs is the Salmon Pink primer used back then. Very out of the ordinary. As I have mentioned before, you can click on the photos for much better resolution plus they can be easily viewed as slide show.
  23. Thanks Peter! I think it turned out well.
