Just looking at that PE, and thinking about what it means in assembly, I am already crazy 🙃

Thanks Martin, that’s my engineering background coming out, well I hope so anyway. I also hate an untidy bench, so I probably spend more time clearing the bench and returning tools to their correct residencies than building…………
Me too

It's 1/48 luckily, Hubert.
Aren't there a zillion civilian schemes out there? I hope you do a WIP.
Cheers Rob
About right about the zillion. The issue is to find a combination of exterior pics, interior pics, registration number, etc. to produce a reasonably accurate replica… And I have found great-looking schemes which would be a nightmare to mask and / or airbrush, at least with my skills

This little beauty showed up on my doorstep today. It made the long way from Japan in record time and beat the masking set, I ordered in the UK the same day by far. These will show up next week, if I'm lucky. Mind, I choose the cheapest shipping option from Japan, I have no idea, how they do it. The Mitsubishi Karigane fits into my recent surge for inter war racers and record planes.
I also ordered another narrower chisel from wave. I already own the 3 mm variant and the smaller 1,6 mm tool will come in handy.
Cheers Rob
Cool subject, Rob 👍 ! I guess it’s 1/72 ?
Me, I just received my Jetmads Learjet !Now, to find a cool, but doable, civilian scheme …

thanks! Just saw it... and Heinz account was "erased" from Britmodeller...
We know it does not take much to be banned from BM nowadays. Maybe just mentioning LSP was enough to displease the lord there 😂 ...

Well, it seems that HPH are throwing the towel on Infinity. The Kate is 50 % down the road, and the project is advertised for sale.
That was a meteoritic passage in the modelling word …

Wouldn’t it be linked to the specific situation (and therefore the helo markings) you are depicting ?
An Alaskan helo would justify a closed canopy more than a Hawaian one for instance, or a GB vs Spain one …
Both look excellent anyway, and, situation notwithstanding, the open frame shows the cabin detailing much better.

Thank you for the information. Now the only real question is when are the traditional manufactures going to start 3D printing kits as opposed to IM? Not really understanding all the ins and outs of #d printing, I would assume it's the slow process of producing a finished fret as compared to the speed of IM that would be the big obstacle to overcome. seeing how fast technology evolves, I'm sure the sped of printing will greatly increase over time. I would also think as opposed to just one IM machine, manufactures would have numerous 3D printers to even out the playing field.
To give you an idea, it took me some 40 hours in total to print the parts for my Mystery Ship. Even with a larger and more professional machine, i guess the time would be divided by 3 at best. An IM process, once the molds are done, is about 30’’ to one minute. In the time it takes to print efficiently one kit, you can produce a few thousands IM kits. Just look at the time it took Jetmads to produce 500 kits : at least one year, if not 18 months.
3D printing is a great process for esoteric subjects that warrant only small volumes, but it’s going to take some time before it can replace injection molding..

Following with great interest - absolutely the future of the hobby. Just wondering if clear parts such as canopies can be created using 3D printing.
The answer is yes. I have successfully printed a (thin) clear windscreen for my Mystery Ship. Just needed a clear vanish coat to be perfectly clear. And, on LSP, Ben (Starfighter) has printed a full canopy for a 1/32 S3-A Viking. It needed some sanding and polishing to get rid of some print lines, but the end result was perfect.

Let’s put it this way. WnW kits are more expensive than any other manufacturer’s, especially as they are OOP. So the fear of making a mistake that will waste this money is greater than with a cheaper alternative.
But, on the other hand, there is a reason why WnW were such a success: they are extremely well designed, go together well, with great instructions, and they have made many novices get hooked to WWI modelling. So your money may be better spent on a WnW kit if you want to go the WWI route

As I was reworking the ejection seat of my Cutlass, I found out that using a power-tool on a delicate assembly of resin, plastic, brass rods and brass sheet was a sure way of feeding my variety of carpet-monster (called woodenfloorus omnivorus)… I could swear I saw its gaping jaws jump at the flying parts on their ballistic trajectory to the Lagrange point … Dune’s sandworms have a much smaller mouth, I tell you …
Anyway, back to some more (unwanted) scratchbuilding 🤪 !

Nice project. I quite like the NMF Bolivian bird myself. Plus it changes from the Stars-and-Bars 51s

That definitely looks snug. Almost like economy class.
You’ve not travelled economy lately, have you, Carl ? Otherwise you’d know that any airline will manage a three-seats row in that huuuuuuge width …

With all the huge boxes above, I have only a small one to show. After I built my first full resin kit, the French Caudron C.561 racer recently, today I received among other stuff this tiny race horse in 1/72 scale also from SBS. It depicts the last version of the Gee Bee racers in goblin green . I added flat PE rigging wires, also from SBS, which are not included into the kit.
Only yesterday, I've seen the perfect complementary for a little scene in green and red. I will have to buy that one too. It's made by Brengun.
Cheers Rob
Love the Texaco fuel truck 👍 !

I’ll check, but I am pretty sure mine hasn’t got a magnet … But it’s also true that stainless steel is not very sensitive to magnetism, and the blade is stainless steel.

Looking good. The Stirling was the most impressive of the 3 heavies IMHO, and you have captured its stance very well.
A pity that the Air Ministry requirement (literally) clipped its wings and potential …
