Watching Series 2 Episode 2 of Plane Resurrection which features an Avro Lancaster. Anyway... my small observation... some of the 'canning' actually pops-out. So, it's not all recessed.
There is actually some good factory footage in this episode, as well as a lot of other info.
This is the first time I've ever seen this show, so I've set it to record.

Shit... Greater Brisbane area going into lockdown at 6pm Friday (9 hours away) until 6PM monday due to a hotel worker testing positive for mutant UK strain. That means I could still go to work on monday... if I didn't already have the day scheduled off.
Because I work in grocery, I'm always essential.

Hi all. I'm trying to figure out how tall my ships might be, roughly and start working on getting some kind of display. I'm thinking of getting a display with three levels made by a local concern. Because I want it to be useful for three ships at a time I need more of a general height than planning for a particular ship.
Please, I'd appreciate it if someone could take a rough measurement of their model from the waterline to the top of the mast and let me know which ship and how high their measurement came to. Something like an Iowa/Bismarck/Yamato/POW would be best as I really don't plan on building anything after WWII.

You really can't compare an early war A with a late war A-8, F, or G. Early in the war, they were puttied and polished so much that the camouflage is very, very wasted away and often you can detect the puttying underneath.
But later in the war... we're talking mid-late 44 and after, they quit doing this according to Willy Reschke in his book. They were simply losing planes too quickly to bother.
There are other qualitative things to consider in late war 190 production. Slave labor, and the need to pump out aircraft more quickly as demanded by the Emergency Fighter Program are just two concerns.

Rippling that bad and being on jack stands.... pretty sure that machine was completely structurally compromised. TBH... Can;t say I've ever noticed any tin-canning on an in-service B-29.

Model companies can't please everyone. It's either make what will sell, or make what will make a handful of people real happy and charge more than than most want or can pay, or face financial ruin.
Who knows what Tamiya was really thinking. Coulda been a goof that sold, so they decided to stick with it. I don't see how batteries that fit in a 1/35 scale wouldn't fit in a 1/32 scale tank model.

I vote 'b' as well. The white metal rims of choice 'c' give me an optical illusion of the car hunched up, while choice 'a' looks too floral.

The second model I bought when returning to modelling was ICM's 1/350 scale Grosser Kurfurst. (I apologize for my lack of umlauts or other proper German grammar).
Who was the Grosser Kurfurst? Here is what wiki says:

I started this 3-4 years ago, and have learned a lot about modelling while it sat on the shelf ignored. The kit itself is a bit of a mishmash. You have some parts available for the Jutland era fit, and you have parts for later. But unfortunately you don't have all of the parts required for a Jutland fit. So, I'll have to build a new Foremast and create some stuff for the anti-torpedo nets.
I also replaced all of the plastic barrels with metal:
And I try to use brass rod wherever it will look better than the plastic parts:
I recently acquired an Artwox wooden deck for her. I built the early, textured water base some time ago, using my own router. There is yet much work to do with the water.
The 'stain' for the base is actually Tamiya clear Orange sprayed on with my airbrush.

Nice work. As an artillery man, I can tell you that those legs are called "trails".
This is an M198 155mm towed Howitzer. Four strong men could lift the trails from or to the pintle at the back of a 5-ton truck.

Great post, Fran! I'm intrigued by the 1/35 109 and Stuka. I would never do it, but I can see lots of ppl planning Dio's of them crashed in front of Allied vehicles.
Sadly, it seems that Revell is just the home of repops.

It's alright, Phil. I got an answer on Facebook yesterday. I was beginning to think that nobody here had built any warships. I've already submitted my idea for a three-tiered warship display case for a quote. Hopefully they don't want an arm and a leg.
