And, if you’re so inclined, you can build Brubaker’s bird from The Bridges at Toko Ri.
Heh... Gonna be some serious researching going on!

Good choice, Gazz. That’s the least likely of the two to be done in IM, and it really is one seriously beautiful kit that builds great!
It's one sharp looking bird, too!

Love pumpkin pie !!....harv
Very few here in Australia can even imagine it. To them, the only way to eat pumpkin is roasted in the oven with salt, pepper, and maybe some gravy.

Very nice looking build! I have seen so few smaller wooden ship models. I'm surprised how broad the beam is.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Last night I started working on the kit. Having seen Tony tape all of the large parts together to get an idea of future fit, I did it with the FW.
You can see some gaps at the wing root. I think I will extend the fairings from the fuselage and try to get a snug fit. Fit is a bit querulous everywhere... everything is close, but will want some clamping during the gluing process.
The remaining parts... it's pretty small part count... think I'm gonna have to get some brass barrels.
Resin and PE details. Two choices for tires... ribbed and smooth.
You get decals for 8 schemes... here are five...
And three more...
Most versions are A-3. One is A-2 and two are A-1. I'm leaning toward the A-1 myself as I don't imagine any other company will ever release on in IM.
I hope you all enjoy the journey with me!

No need to apologize, Mike. A forum is for communicating.
I like the ICM kit. Goes together nicely and the detail is acceptable for scale. The plastic gun barrels are a little weak, so I replace them with brass. The wingspan of the 217 is 16 inches. The 217 is all new molds. Clear parts are very nice. If I could pick out any fault in the 217 is that the fuselage seams need reinforcement as the body is pretty flexible. I used evergreen sheet to beef up the fuselage seams.
Some day I'm hoping ICM releases either the 217K or M bombers.

Do you happen to know if any of the Do 217 variants had the full glass nose and radar aerials? I'd like to build one with the full glass nose, and also find those aerials really cool, but thus far haven't seen any with both. Seems like the ones that carried the aerials had the closed lower nose.
*Edit* Sorry, forgot you had built the 17, not the 217. Getting all the variants confused. I'm also looking at the Heinkel He 111 - so many cool options out there.
Oh... I've built the 217. The is an N2/R22
The only 1/48 variants I know of in styrene are the Revell E (long OOP), and two night fighter variants by ICM. If there was a ship hunting variant of the E, it might have had some dipoles in places. But I haven't thoroughly researched the bomber variants. ICM recently released the J nightfighter.
Both kits feature plastic aerials, but they are overly chunky.
If you want a glass nose with aerials, I'm pretty sure you'll have to build a JU-88 or 188. They have some pretty hefty aerial arrangements, though. Do you solder?

Thanks for the tip! I didn't realize Gaspatch made them. I have some Master Barrels Neptun radar sets for a couple of Me262 kits in the stash. The Gaspatch ones look really nice though, wow.
The Gaspatch dipoles are the correct set for the Dornier. I don't think any if them received the FuG 220 or later sets. Just 202 and 212 which use the same aerial.

Nicely done! I love the look of the Dorniers - I've been thinking about adding a 217 to the stash but love they way you built this one!
Thank you, Mike! If you get one of the 217’s, check out Gaspatch Models for radar aerials. ...if you’re not keen to make your own.
