  1. interestingly... the tall tail is not in the instructions. And there are other hints that this was a G-6 Trop that someone decided to upgrade into a G14. "Hey... let's put Hartmann with his Tulip markings in for a big splash in the market". Cuz... as we all know, the G-6's flown by Hartmann don;t have the Tulip.
  2. I saw a one for sale at my model club for sale this past Saturday.... Made in Canada by Hobbycraft. Even had a Malcolm Hood.
  3. Check out this G14 with wide wheel well bulges. Now this would be a worthy subject... if we could see the fuselage sides.
  4. I really want a 1/32 Razorback. But I want to avoid Trumpeter products. Imagine that big radial and the super charger trunking.
  5. I was actually studying this photo last night. Some good colour variations in that mottle. May be at least 3 colours.
  6. I’m only going to paint the exhaust stubs and the top of the block. Just to ensure no gray shows.
  7. That’s nice too…. But on phone, can’t see cowling emblem.
  8. That’s a nice possibility! Thank you.
  9. Hello Modellers.... The bare bones engine. I've skipped so many parts. Wiring harnesses. Tubing. Lots of tubing. And the large oil cooler at the front. One of the lower engine bearer arms was weakened at some point and has been fortified with Xtra Thin. Some interesting engineering. The heat shields, which on every other model are part of the fuselage or added later externally are part of the engine assembly. I know some of you will really enjoy assembling this engine. It would make a fitting display piece on it's own. ... ... I just hope I can get the cowls closed when it's time.
  10. I presume that ship models will be included? 1/350 is as "large" as I can go there.... Ooh... just realized I have a 1/72 scale S-boat. Are these scales gonna work?
  11. Not so interested in the Swiss. Yellow 5 is interesting.... but I'm not sure it's a G14. I think I have seen is captioned as a G10.
  12. Oh... I have a 109 rule... I will never build on in unflyable condition.
  13. Oh Bummer. This one knocks yellow 20 out of contention. it may be a G6 and it has the earlier canopy.
  14. Michel's 109 does have an interesting scheme. But it's kinda ugly.
  15. I think it'll be more about painstaking than magic, Ern. I feel I need to improve my game with this one.
  16. Hi Chris, Most of WNW's parts have actual visual or structural purpose. This is more like some exercise in pleasing a certain crowd. And if I was a lot younger, I might be in that crowd. I mean... there is cylinder detail for Pete's sake. And what are the first thing hidden in the directions? ... the cylinder detail!
  17. I’ll have to look up the Eduard set. Funnily, nobody has mentioned the one I’m leaning toward. To me, the instruction book is massive. 49 busy pages yet only 1 scheme.
  18. They are getting thin on the ground in some places. And ZM haven’t announced the plain-Jane version yet.
  19. Thank you for your interest, Peter. FYI, I haven’t found any seatbelts in the kit. I decided to cough up the cash for a set from HGW.
  20. Looks good! Typical Tamiya brilliance!
  21. Secondly... a possible scheme. In the closing months of WWII, photos of plane's and their pilots seem to become increasingly rare. Or... I'm just not adept at finding them. When good photos are difficult to find, I turn to skinners. Here are some examples I'm considering: Which one do you like best?
  22. Hello Friends! First of all... the title... Non-Hartmann. No disrespect to the Ace of Aces... But everyone (and their brother) will be doing Hartmann's machine. And I'm a bit of an individualist. Anyway... we'll get back to the scheme later. Some of you requested to see what's in the box.... So, I took some poor quality images. Erich Hartmann comes in a little black box: The instruction booklet... It's something else. Holy Compass Batmann!! I'm not the kind to spend time on parts unseen. And... I like my machine buttoned up to show of the beautiful lines of the aircraft. Trust me... If I could make the model in it's flying state, without some form of base sticking out of it.... or hanging from my ceiling... I would do it. This model is a bit intimidating. There are parts separate from the fuselage and wings, that I have never seen separated before. And there are a lot of parts, I can't even identify. But not one single piece of photo-etch. Very unusual. I hope I can bring my painting skills in the cockpit area up to another level. Anyway.... Come along for the ride!
