  1. Tried something new. I designed artwork in the Star of Africa theme and had it printed by Projectcolor. The signed photo of the 1956 star of the movie is sandwiched between the wooden base and perspex. 4 screws will hold it in place.
  2. Lovely detail work. I have this kit with the Part photo etch set in the stash. Bookmarked this!
  3. Hahaha! thnx. You’re too kind. I tend to only use Gunze mr hobby colour. Thinned with Gunze levelling thinner.
  4. The biggest headache was the oil cooler. You need to cut out sections of the underwing and compensate for the adjustment made to the higher sit of the nose. I think i’ve got it..
  5. Catching up after missing a few of your updates is the cherry on my day. If that makes sense...
  6. The nose is on! Managed to achieve a very smooth and snug fit by thinning the inner edges of the resin and adding a few thin plastic strips. I used a spare Hasegawa windshield which is slightly wider than the Revell windshield. Now working on the oil cooler which also needs a bit of tweaking to fit the Revell kit.
  7. To be honest the Revell kit offers more options and detail. Way more parts too. But the Hasegawa kit has crisper and smoother surface detail and the plastic is easier to work with. I had little to no problems making the Buchon set fit the Revell kit but to make the Tripala set fit you need to do a fair amount of work..
  8. This pit is ready. Made a mistake by glueing the yellow tripala placard to the sidewall. It should be higher. On the canopy framing when using the Revell kit you do need to make the nose fit. I added shims along the edges and i thinned the resin sidewalls. i also used a spare hasegawa windshield since it’s a bit wider and fits better.
  9. Great subject. Love hph kits and the detail and challenges they offer.
  10. Sadly no.. the instrument panel should fit in the combing of the front windshield which sit a few mm forward of the sidewalls you see. I fixed the issue. Pics soon.
  11. Dryfit of the Eduard pit reveals a problem. Pretty nasty one too. the rear deck is a few mm too short. Causing the rear bulkhead to sit way too far to the front. The knife points at the slot where the rear bulkhead should go. I think i might prolong the horizontal deck.
  12. Wow!!! Seriously loving this!!!! A challenging kit but very doable. Following this... great work.
  13. Also did some research into the gunsight. Note that i am building the movie star and not a standard ha-1112 k1L Tripala. And also no typical 109G. So i was wondering: should i go for a Revi or QBI spanish gunsight. I watched the movie and saw that there was no gunsight installed. Only in the mockup cockpit closeup shots which showed a Revi. This is the QBI sight (thnx to Espen Tjetland): Here’s a shot from the movie. No gunsight in sight: Closeup mockup shot with Revi:
