I'm still debating RC conversion so my build has stalled a bit as lots to consider and don't want to get too far into it before final decision. I'm thinking of using,(yes copying!), some your scratch built bits n bobs. My problem is I can build them, but I don't have the imagination to design them and looking at some of your detail work I find it amazing and adds so much to the kit. Thanks also to all the other builders who added extra info and reference links which I'll use as well. Welcome to LSM, thank you for your kind words. By all means plagiarise all you want, no problem. If you add RC the deck joint will need to be sealed some how. The kit is amazing but the cockpit and radio mast were crying out for more detail. There is a lot more detail that could be added, there are a couple of books around for reference but never did get time to purchase them. Please post a work in progress as it would good to see another build build of the Elco. I still have the reference material so shoot a PM if you require anything…. 2
jostro65 Posted Sunday at 09:32 PM Posted Sunday at 09:32 PM Hiya, Decision made....the Elco will be motorised and I've decided due to this I'm not overdoing any of the extra details, I'm thinking more for ease of handling and transporting, the less etch I use for railings, fittings etc, the less damage I can do to it! I'd already started some priming and small parts assembly but nothing more for the foreseeable. Before I do the big one I've a smaller Japanese PT15 that I'll be fitting out with a single motor/rudder set-up just to get an idea of what I'm doing, a nice test subject I think. I'll look around for more ideas as to waterproofing and best layouts for weight distribution etc. Thanks again though, finding your thread has actually got me chomping at the bit to get back onto this particular model as has been laid aside for quite a while. 👍 3
