I've never built a Sherman. I might try this myself. I'm looking forward to following this build.🙂

Tamiya’s 1/35 Easy Eight kit is a joy to build. I usually find Tamiya’s rubber tracks pretty accurate and easy to use however the E8 kit tracks are a bit fiddly.

Over all it’s an amazing armor kit!!

It’s a really well engineered kit and I think you’d enjoy building it.

I can see cast marks around the driver and co-drivers hatches but the rest of the upper hull doesn’t show any. I believe the upper hulls were cast so I’ll have to do further research.

So I’m really liking this technique.
I’m quite pleased with the results and it’s simple to do. Definitely a skill set keeper!

I love your approach to all of this - and I’m filing the casting mark tips away for whenever I get around to building anything with large cast pieces 😎💯🙏

Oh good I thrilled that you can use the technique. I’m getting ready to start a Tamiya 1/35 King Tiger with Production Turret and a lot of it including the frontal armor, hull sides, turret etc were all cast. It looks like hell but once painted and weather it looks amazing. I’m using the technique on all my future builds!

After a bit of research I realized that the forward facing hull plate, rear hull plate and driving compartment top were all made of cast steel. So after some assembly I set upon installing more cast marks using a mixture of Tamiya Putty and Tamiya Extra Thin. Very anxious to see the results once the kit is finished!

Between Amazon and a visit to Walmart yesterday I have all the components to teach myself how to fashion trapping and netting on my armor builds. Should be a fun technique and useful in adding interest in future builds.

Continuing with the assembly of the upper hull. Step 20 involved the placement of 11 tiny fender brackets along each side of the hull and fenders!!!

Mail call!!
Lately I’ve enjoyed a few YouTube videos from model shows around the world. I’ve picked up a few add-on items for my Easy Eight build and one of these Tamiya 1/35 bikes lashed across the rear deck will add a ton of interest.

Lots and lots of fiddly handholds, headlight and taillight brackets plus the main gun attached to the turret. Starting to really look like an Easy Eight now!!

Good stuff, Ralph! It's hard to keep up with your posts. 😀  Never tried the texturing thing before with the putty and the cement, interesting.

I have most of the kits you recently purchased.... I'm a big Tamiya fan and have a lot in my stash. I also like the 1/16 kits that have been coming

out. Well, Ralph, keep up the good work...Will be following along.

I’ve fallen in love with that cast marking technique. Really gives satisfying results. I’m a big Tamiya fan boy also. I’m building a 1/16 kit also and they are tedious due to the part counts and complexity of the kits.

As for the 1/16 scale kits, it seems to be a sort of "golden age" for them. I recently picked up a 1/16 PaK 40 gun by Takom and

have others. I'm going to get Andy's big M3 halftrack when it arrives.  and then call it quits for a while for buying. Looking forward to the rest

of your build.

The Easy Eight is coming along nicely.

The latest additions to the stash are great too. I have the Comet as well. Looks like a sports car of a tank.

I’m looking forward to building the Comet and the rest of Tamiya’s British Tanks.
