And these aren't very expensive. Let's hope I can build this. I wanted to try something different this time. 3
DocRob Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Looking good FA, Isn´t it fun, toying with different metallics? Cheers Rob 3

BlrwestSiR Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Those exhausts look great. How did you do the heat staining on them? 1
DocRob Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Nice, but I guess most will be hidden under the fairing. BTW: I think, some more yellow and a bit less blue temper color would be more realistic. The colors show the temperature which the gases inside have in certain areas, tighter passages are hotter and therefore have a different color ranging from blue over red to yellow. Cheers Rob 3

I know. I don't have the tools or the colors to create different color nuances right now. That would be a nice addition, but some compromises have to be made. 3
FullArmor Posted October 5 Author Posted October 5 I don't know if you've ever put these together? But that's exactly how I felt when I put the exhaust pipes together. Everything had to be in line at the same time. 😄 5
FullArmor Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Decal sheet nightmare. Lots of contours. I somehow got them on. But there was a lot of room for improvement. I ordered the "decal set strong". Maybe it will help me to do better in the next piece. One reason I haven't built car or motorcycle models is the amount of decal sheet maddness. I'm trying to improve. But maybe I'm too critical of myself. However, this was my first attempt. 5
DocRob Posted October 12 Posted October 12 The best decal solution to my eye is a hairdryer. Even the most rigid carbon fiber decals settled around the wildest contours using one with the addition of decal softeners. Cheers Rob 3

BlrwestSiR Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Rob is right, using a hairdryer really helps to get decals down over some crazy shapes. Scale Motorsports used to recommend it in the instructions for their carbon decals. Another option to try is a towel dipped in very hot water. The only risk there is the decal can potentially lift/move with the towel. Carl 2 1
