Thank you guys. There will be adjustments to the mottling and repairs once the paint is cured.

Regarding the marking. As a first step I sprayed the black layer into the centres, then cover the centre again, then removed the outline and sprayed the yellow. Oramask 810 is very flexible, thick , but flexing enough to give you some room for adjustments.

Fanks - I use the same film, suspect thats one of the advantages of 1/24 over 1/48 , my Cameo gets upset if you pull the offsets in too much . 😔

Yes I ripped the first cut as well, then I changed the speed settings to 1 and the cut was clean. blade 2, speed 1, force 8

Similar setting here , less force though - I run also tamiya masking paper occasionally , but fit parallel cuts less than 1mm , sometimes 2mm it just drags the material up 😔

Hence my love of Japanese or Brit subjects :)

MIND THE GAP!

I should probably check the instructions once in a while. How and why would Airfix choose such a solution for the canopy install is beyond me. I didn’t trim the fuselage and then noticed the gap while spraying clear coat . Bummer...

So just be careful when you get to this step , it's easy to miss.

Printed the serial numbers and opted for windmills from the Trumpeter decal sheet just to realize that they’re too big. Well that’s Trumpeter for ya.

Father Ted was right. :)

moving on, canopy is back on. the big upper cross decals came out ok. I removed the inner part and hopefully they will blend under a coat of clear.

At least it's not as big as the Fulda Gap. :D

It's an interesting moulding choice that Airfix picked with that.

You could drive a tank army through that :)

Good save Martin, like my toupee you can't see the join .

Had similar dramas with the Ju88 I did a while back , luckily ICM provide numerous versions of clear sprues so cutting off the old and redoing it all was a pain, but the model didn't get lawn darted .

Little progress today. As I said before “ baby steps”

applied majority of the stencils.

in order to mimic sand down look of this airframe I combined orange and dark brown Tamiya wash and in a irregular pin wash pattern I covered majority of the top surfaces. That was completed by again highly irregular line wash. Which was consequently wiped down by Q-tip slightly moistened with thinner.

then I noticed some kind of repair paint job on the right side of the rudder, not sure if it was done by red oxide primer( possibly) or fresh yellow or one of the camouflage colours. I mixed up my own shade of colour named Kaka.  Don’t ask. :)
wheels and flaps got more stencils  too, again it’s a slow process. Airfix provided magnificent amount of stencils which partially offsets that booting marking selection.
enough said, adding pictures

Another strange hiccup along the way  the flame dampened was sticking too much out and over the exhaust pipes, I’ve noticed it only when I started applying some heat damage, instead I found myself in a world of emotional damage :)
