gfiend
Hello, I thought this topic would have been posted by now but I'll kick it off. WNW has now released their AEG G IV in both early and late versions. I've ordered the early version, mainly because I can't help myself when it comes to WNW products. Cheaper than other forms of addiction I guess. Does anyone else have the same affliction? What are the general thoughts out there? Cheers Paul
Verbeek
To expensive for me. For that money I buy two, two sitter's from WnW. And ceep some change for paint or so. So, I say no to that price!
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 27, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 27, 2015 I've heard it's one of their best kits to date... Price on the high side though. We will be reviewing both the early and late type as soon as they arrive on our door mats! Stay tuned.

elmarriachi
I think 229 USD is somewhere acceptable for such wonderful kit.... I ordered the late version.... but I know that the early one will follow soon ....
Administrators Fran Posted February 27, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 27, 2015 I will order one (late Type) but not this year..I confess that i was expectingto buy both but not now. I must say that i was a bit dissapointed with the price tag.... I was thinking more for 179$ (and hopping that was less)... Not 229$...

Administrators James H Posted February 27, 2015 Administrators Share Posted February 27, 2015 Ok guys, Richard Alexander (WNW Co-ordinator) has posted information to review sites re: pricing of the AEG. I will make the unusual move of copy/pasting this here, but all info is perfectly ok to share. PLEASE take note: 32034 1/32 AEG G.IV (Early) US$229 Early production AEG G.IV featured internal bomb racks on the port side of the gunner's cockpit and painted day and hexagon night camouflage. -57cm wingspan. -423 high quality injection moulded plastic parts. -2 highly detailed Daimler-Mercedes D.IVa engines which can be displayed exposed or fully enclosed in their nacelles. -Optional bomb load of 12.5kg (x48), 50kg (x7) and 100kg (x2) bombs. -Optional front gun rings, propellers and weighted tyres. -Optional painted day or hexagon night camouflage. -17 photo-etched metal detail parts. -Tail skid trolley for diorama display. -36 page fully illustrated instruction manual. -5 high quality Cartograf decals including 4 sheets of night hexagon camouflage and markings for 5 aircraft; 1- AEG G.IV 155/16, early to mid 1917 2- AEG G.IV 157/16, Kagohl IV, August 1917 3- AEG G.IV 1118/16 ‘V’, Bogohl IV?, 1917 to early 1918 4- AEG G.IV 1125/16, Bogohl III?, Bosta 15?, December 1917 5- AEG G.IV 1131/16 “III”, mid 1918 32042 1/32 AEG G.IV (Late) US$229 Late production AEG G.IV featured internal bomb racks on either side of the rear gunner's cockpit, rotating front and rear gun rings and dark 'night' printed lozenge camouflage fabric covering. -57cm wingspan. -410 high quality injection moulded plastic parts. -2 highly detailed Daimler-Mercedes D.IVa engines which can be displayed exposed or fully enclosed in their nacelles. -Optional bomb load of 12.5kg (x26), 50kg (x7) and 100kg (x2) bombs. -Optional propellers and weighted tyres. -17 photo-etched metal detail parts. -Tail skid trolley for diorama display. -32 page fully illustrated instruction manual. -5 high quality Cartograf decals including 4 sheets of night lozenge and markings for 5 aircraft; 1- AEG G.IV 848/17 ‘White 1’, Bogohl 8b, May 1918 2- AEG G.IV 850/17 ‘White 2’, Bogohl 8b, June 1918 3- AEG G.IV ‘White VII’, mid to late 1918 4- AEG G.IV 567/18 ‘White 7’, Bogohl 8b, mid to late 1918 5- AEG G.IV 574/18 ‘White IV’, November 1918 (this aircraft is currently preserved in the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum) Because a direct comparison to the cost of our earlier model 32005 Gotha G.IV (currently priced at just US$149) is inevitable I encourage you to consider these significant differences; 1 AEG G.IV tooling is 1.3x the cost of the Gotha G.IV. 2 AEG G.IV plastic injection moulding is 2.3x the cost of the Gotha G.IV. 3 AEG G.IV decal printing is 2.75x the cost of the Gotha G.IV. 4 The Gotha G.IV is probably priced a too low. Verbeek
I'm sorry for my early reaction, about the price. I still think it is a lot of money for a kit, but just arrive four beautiful kits from WnW, and I know for sure that AEG is coming in my collection too! Not today of in a few months, but I will buy that kit! Why? I love those WnW kits, that's why.
One-Oh-Four
Well.... Yes, it's a lot of money... I'll be ordering an "early version", anyhow. It's a seriously large and wonderfully detailed model of a guaranteed high quality. So I'll just let Mr. Jackson pocket the profits and hope those profits may be used some day by him in making a movie trilogy of Bernard Cornwell's version of the Arthur Saga. "The Winter King", "Enemy of God" and "Excalibur". If those three novels will get the same treatment as Tolkien's work has, it will be an awesome spectacle of how the Celtic Britons fought each other and the invading Saxons at the end of the 5th Century...
Verbeek
Strange reason, Erik, to buy a great kit! You tell your wife this, to get that great kit?
Madbox
Its a great kit, but for me, I perhaps will leave this one, not as much enthusiasm for this aircraft, as I have the others I have purchased, but of course that may change at some point...... I think we all know that we get what we pay for, from WNW.... its just trying to justify the cost along with the want for the kit. Dave
Guest Dekenba
I've ordered early & late. It's not cheap, but I think WNW have basically been swallowing the price increases over the last few years. Instead of increasing prices annually they seem to have taken the hit in order to keep kits below the $99 barrier & have now re-aligned their prices with costs, hence the jump in cost compared to the Gotha. In a way they caused the disappointment in the price by doing so, but the alternative - of increasing prices each year - would have worked out far more expensive for me!
