Not a flaw in the Spit.

A specific flaw in the fuel intake system.

Despite that, the Merlin could be argued as one of the top factors in the winning of the war.

Actually, the film that shows the Merlin being starved in negative G, then overflowed, is of a Hurricane, not Spitfire
