  1. Long time since my last post. Have been busy working on HPH's giant PBY-5A Catalina... Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina Flying Boat - Bureau number 7277/20 of VP-93 US Coast Guard. This Catalina was assigned to the Greenland Fleet Air detachment at Bluie West One (Narsarsuaq) during WW2. PBY-5A taxiing on the Greenland icecap. The left side has been opened up, to make it possible to see all the beautiful interior details HPH has put into this great bird. A couple of interior shots... A final touch, interior lighting... Hope you like it, thanks for looking: Cheers Kent
  2. Thanks Cees, this project started out as little more than a test, to see if it is possible to bring some life into the huge surfaces of the Tamiya Lancaster. Although not perfect, I'm quite happy with the result, it does open up some new possibilities with old kits and scratchbuilds...
  3. Hi Rob. I've used a type of heavy Aluminium foil for embossing, available in art/hobby supply stores. The advantage of this thick foil, is that it is possible to 'stretch' it somewhat during the fitting process. It does also not wrinkle. The foil pieces are cut to fit the some of joint lines. They are sanded on the backside and the rivetting is done from the inside out with a 'Rosie the rivetter' tool to make it look authentic. The foil is glued in place with contact glue. I know it sounds like a daunting task, but it isn't really that hard to work with. I'm not sure if it would work if used for a all metal finish, that remains to be tried... ;-) Regards: Kent
  4. Finally got around to the painting job on this one... I think the work with the aluminium sheet cladding payed off, it's no longer the smooth plastic but a more irregular metallic surface...
  5. Thank you very much for the encouraging comments! I really appreciate it! It's my old Revell Bf109G from the seventies and a lot of work went into this 'baby' I took the build kit apart, sanded everything down and rescribed the panellines. The HGW rivets set was used to bring some details back to the surface. Resin parts from Quickboost included the tropical filter, exhaust, machine guns and stabilizers. The cockpit was replaced by Aires resin G-2. Many scratch build details were added in various places... The Humber wireless car is a conversion of Airfix Monty's Humber.
  6. Hi, so here's my last project of 2016, and I wasn't even sure if I would get it done before the end of the year. But here it is: Inspired by the many photos of downed Me 109's in the Libyan desert late 1941. I wanted to depict a scene with a Bf109 being 'pillaged' by british troops in a desert setting. So this is how it turned out: A Bf 109G-2 Trop with the engine and armament covers removed, bend propellers and some of the hatches and the canopy removed. The oil is leaking from the damaged engine that brought the plane down... A British wireless vehicle (Humber 8 cwt) with its crew, has stopped to look for souvenirs from the downed German plane. The driver is taking a break, having a cup of tea, while the two other crew members are looking for interesting parts/objects. One of them has removed the Revi 16 gunsight from the cockpit and is holding it as if he had found a precious 'gem'. The groundwork is done with filler, plaster, sand and cat litter. Figures are various Miniart and Master Box, cannibalized, reworked to make them 54mm, to fit the 1/32 plane and vehicle... Hope you all like it! Kent Photo links updated...
  7. Thank you! Yes this was the one big challenge with this build. To get an all dull light grey plane to somehow come 'alive'. So i decided to go for a more detailed version of 'preshading' using the different materials (aluminium/wood/canvas) as an undercoat and then try not to cover everything with the grey overcoat... And I'm quite happy with the result using this technique, together with the blue black wash from MIG Ammo, it gives the surface some 'life'.
  8. Rebuilding of my old Hasegawa Me 163B from the seventies. Scribing of panellines, some rivets and detailing of the rocket engine C-stoff tank opening. Scratching some of the parts that had gone missing over the years.Eduard PE was used for the cockpit and I did some scratch build details, reworking the kit pilot seat... Messerschmitt Me 163B - PK+QP - WNr. 310054 Versuchsnummer V45 - Erprobungskommando 16, Bad Zwischenahn spring 1944. Thanks for watching!
  9. Looking good! I do not know if the Manchester has the same interior as the lancaster, you probably know. But I remember this from my Lancaster build, and I was a little puzzled by the Radio operators seat, how to build it. Then I found this photo, where the wing spar goes right through the fuselage, maybe its the same in the Manchester? Keep up the good work! Kent
  10. Photos of the finished build and conversion of the old Airfix kit, thanks for watching... Thread updated: Cheers: Kent
  11. Almost finished the paintjob done this weekend.. Undercoat gunmetal/red brown/dark grey... A layer of hairspray before the paint... British desert yellow, base of tamiya wooden deck tan, highlights with Lifecolor Light Stone...
  12. Thanks! The plan is to use it together with a crashed Me Bf109-G2 trop. The inspiration comes from some of the many photos of downed Me 109's from the North African campaign, with a British vehicle in the background. The scratchbuild... The radio is from the Tamiya LRDG Chevrolet kit and bags from my stash... I've added some details to the wheels, no hub cab etc...
  13. Am I the only one being a bit frustrated about the absence of 1/32 vehicles to go with 1/32 aircraft models? So I got this mad idea, using one of the few models available from the last century... Maybe it's possible to make something like this...
  14. There are multiple conversions to be done to the Revell kit to get it right for the danish Mk 90B' Some additional detailing involved, Avionics Bay in the nose, Rolls-Royce Gem engine, Rescue Hoist, Gearbox panel, homemade decals for the danish markings.etc... Photos of the finished build, hope you like it...
