  1. I was thinking Harv could put up a picture of when he was in, posing with Artaxerxes.
  2. Good grief!! Martin, this place is populated by Jarheads!!
  3. I had no pics of me (one didn't generally run around taking pictures of oneself) until a couple guys sent me a few. Most were on R&R, but they sent one or two while in uniform. Was a pasty faced cold blooded, no nonsense gut at one time. About a year after this pic was taken, I transferred to a training batallion and did a tour as a DI. This one was taken in 1982 on a Reforger fun get together. LOL
  4. Hubert, we both may need to check references, because on the P-11 instruction sheet, the little nubbie on the brake drum is shown facing downwards, not up. I went on faith that the instructions were correct, but maybe they're not? Now I'm goping to study it as well.. LOL But so far, this looks stellar, and I think I might just follow your lead on this one, Just stunning work so far.
  5. I really feel what we need to do is that these are stellar kits. I have close to 100 of them, I know, stupid, but we all buy what we love, even if it meant eating mac and cheese for awhile. I have a couple that are half finished SOD sitters, and getting them done will be a priority here.
  6. I'd give much for a beautiful Vigilante. The most beautiful Navy jet ever built. And yes, the Hawkeye...
  7. I just hate a disorganized workbench, and this one’s driving me insane. Plus, that Panther has been languishing for over a year and it’s high time to get with the program.
  8. And I even found the pitot tube! In one piece as well, about 15 ft away... hmmm
  9. Yep, the great speckled turd, I mean bird. But it did it’s job, swallowing freight whole and regurgitating it at the far end.
  10. Well, pit is finished, seat is superdetailed, gear is finished, tip tanks done, Pilot is finished, and once I figure out what to do with the engine, it’ll be quick enough.
  11. Captain Boogaloo, I too have fondled that Wingnut Lanc plastic and it was absolutely sublime. The detail in that kit was destined to be close to perfection in every way. But of course at the time, they had what they thought were unlimited funds to design and produce the ultimate model kit. I don’t expect anyone will be able to continue the level of love and perfection that’ll be necessary on that kit. I built the HK kit. No, it was by no means perfect. But for my needs, it was exactly what I needed for what I had in mind. I don’t believe the Wingnut Kit would have been suitable for my build. Oh, you could do it, but it would be a helluva lot more work. The HK guys obviously used a postwar Canadian Mk.10 Lanc as their prototype. Different chin scoops, metal elevators, etc. it’s a bit of a mish mash, but in the end, with he addition of oh, £50 in AM, it gives a VERY favorable representation of wartime Lanc Mk.X. But comparing HK to Wingnut is like comparing a Hasegawa A6M to a Tamiya A6M. Same airframe but cruising at two different flight levels. Hasegawa will NEVER be Tamiya no matter how hard they try, but they still turn out a decent A6M.
  12. Yellow and brown turd, anyone? If it had corn spots all along it, it would look perfect. Notice the Brits couldn’t even get their turboprops to urn in the correct direction. Left foot on takeoff and climb just ain’t natural.
  13. With the P.11 nearing the finish line, “has it only been three weeks”?, I decided it’s time for some housekeeping. So, first order of business is to expand my HobbyZone racks so today I ordered two extra rows or drawers and three wall mount paint racks. Then, I decontaminated my bench, calling in the entire ICM crew for an afternoon’s work. That white, blue, and yellow IL-76 arriving at DFW today was them arriving with their crew and specialized decontamination equipment We've found solid ground, but will now do a thorough stripping and remodel as needed. I have too many jars of paint, so I need to arrange them better. Good Grief I hate a messy bench! I need to finish the P-47.. Then, I need to wrap up a couple SOD sitters. Wingnut Taube Fisher Skyraider Guppy conversion. (Thanks Scott) But I’ll do mine in GSB just to be different.) Fisher Panther. (A real quick finish here, just need to source a resin Nene from somewhere or make up a few Nene looking parts plus maybe a mesh screen, and viewblocks... Them, back to, and push through on the B-36. I want it on the table in Omaha along with a B-52 if possible. Hopefully someone comes a B-52. After that, we’ll knock out the AEG. Somewhere in there we want H.M.S. Speedy. She will be THE monotony breaker.
  14. Getting closer in all her light absorbing drabness. A few more parts and details to apply, plus powder weathering, then followed by a semi gloss clear weathering powder works best on a dead flat finish
  15. Agree. There were a few in Canada through the 70s. Transair had one, I recall. A big yellow and brown turd. The Neptune would be an amazing addition as well, and the Argus, another of a long line of Canadian Britannia knock offs, was one of the most impressive aircraft I’ve ever seen. They made a huge impression on this ol’ boy.
  16. A wiser man than me just recently said; “Who needs a SPAD family when we can have a Gotha UWD”?
  17. Well folks, I’ll have a few pointers to show tomorrow, but as we sit right now, this little aircraft is almost finished. She needs wheels, oil cooler, Venturi, windscreen, and find out where the pitot tube flew to, and reattach it. A bit of a flat coat applied so my Bragdon powders stick better. I’ll just use a bit of soot around the engine and cowl. Then string the dipole and I’ll call her done.
  18. Someone say “Argosy”? How about an Argus and a Neptune. 1950s and 60s sub hunters...
  19. We’re certainly in the middle of a Polish love fest, eh?
