  1. That’s odd.
  2. A stunning build using a nice kit to make a famous Ace’s P-51. Beautiful job!
  3. I’ve actually used interior latex. I’ve used white as a way to smooth the interior of jet intakes.
  4. I ball them up and rub them between by fingers. Don’t overdo it, but do it plenty enough and they’ll get soft and pliable. You can also wet them a touch then installing them and let them dry that way. They'll maintain their shape.
  5. Maru, even I don’t remember much of the 50s. I’m glad your memory’s better than mine.
  6. Exactly. Heck, an admin built a 1/48 bomber here and so am I. Nobody loses their minds over it. Personally, and this is just me, not the roolz, but in my book, generally, if you’re building the biggest model ever available of a certain subject, I’d not only call it large scale, but LARGE scale. It all depends on where you put the emPHASis when you say it. And the more AFVs, the better. Just don’t expect me to build them.
  7. Personally, I wish no bad or evil on them anymore Han I want it to happen here. I think there’s room for two dedicated large scale forums on the web. Each is decidedly unique and each has its own attractions and benefits. I happen to believe ours is the far better place for Member interaction and conversation, and they have a pretty decent database. But then again, they have been around longer and really push that end of it. They have their way of running it, and we have ours. One thing to remember y’all, is that the Staff here is all volunteer. We’re all human. We win, we lose, we succeed, and we fail. We make good choices, and occasionally we make a bad one. If we make a mistake, we try to never repeat it. But everyone’s goal here, not just the Staff, is to make this he friendliest and most rewarding large scale site on the web. Most people here are cross posters. Which is cool. Enjoy the benefits of both. Many miss a very important part of LSM, and that is armor. They’re not a stated part of the other site. AFVs are 100% welcome here and are fully 1/2 of this site. And I think they need to be promoted more. I know I don’t (can’t) build AFVs, but the work I do see is bloody amazing. I’d love to see more people from the other site come and try it out here. Not leave there, but come and have fun. Build, chat, have fun. Unless it gets into personal attacks, nobody’s gonna get all worked up. We keep religion (yeah I know), and politics away as best we can.
  8. For a real change of pace, how about an FGR? You said F-4 and that’d be a very cool kitbash.
  9. Carl, you have good taste in women. I married a Susan as well. Joy’s her middle name. Susan’s make good wives. Beautiful and talented, too. Happy Anniversary, Man!!!!!
  10. Maru I’m gonna miss seeing you, but next time!! I’m not holding out much hope over it working out well. It might turn out to be the best attended regional show in quite awhile, but nowhere near last year in Chattanooga. I’ll drive down for a day or two but I’m not thinking I’ll do all week.
  11. I’m up in Oklahoma with my Wife this Memorial Day weekend. Duties to attend to and my nephew gets to house sit and guard the stash. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend, and on this Memorial Day weekend, remember all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice
  12. Jeroen, is the Revell kit that much nicer than the Hasegawa? I’m no 109 expert so I’m in the dark. I have both of these sets, the Hisso and the Merlin, so I’m interested in knowing all I can.
  13. Stunning.... It’ll grow on you, Tony, and you’ll be doing another soon enough.
  14. I remember reading somewhere that “Freightliner” was the trade name for a type of truck spec’d specifically by White Motors for Consolidated Freightways. In the end, the Freightliner name outlasted the parent company, and all were eventually gobbled up by Daimler Benz Corporation. It’s fascinating. Old American truck names, all gone. White, Jeffrey, Diamond-T, REO, Marmon, Western Star. All gone.
  15. If I tried half that crap, I’d throw my hip out.
  16. John, I’ll be curious to how you deal with the dihedral, air scoops, and that blasted landing light. Those three things alone kicked my arse hard on my build. There must be a better way! I’ll be watching and learning.
  17. NICE!! I remember "BJ and the Bear" on TV way back in the 70s and their fancy cabover. But they drove a fancy Kenworth K100, not a Freightliner
  18. Looking absolutely stunning, Harv!! Just a thought, and it might be a bit late now with the mud on her, but some very light exhaust staining around the pipe might help as well. Not much, just a bit, maybe some cauterizing/darkening of heat stressed paint? Not totally necessary and maybe too late at this stage, but just thinking out loud.
  19. Many of the Fennec parts are in the kit, but you still need the tall 'A' canopy, which isn't in the kit. Now, if someone could vac one, you'd be golden
  20. I was eyeballing the DC-3 but then went all in with the B-36, long may she reign!
  21. Martin, these are GREAT building kits, man.
  22. Indeed. Just measure the width by the fit of the greenhouse. But that blasted wing bites me in the arse. If the width is right for the greenhouse, then the main wing has a tendency to build up flat or with anhedral. It’s a job to fix, but not too tough. You got it figured, John!
  23. Welcome Michael!! I'd venture to say you're probably right. In the Great War, the Germans used to have their National Insignia right between the crewmembers on their two seaters, and right under the pilot on the single seaters. 'X' marks the spot, or so they said. A very convenient aiming point indeed, during the days before mounted machine guns where observers carried their hunting rifles or pistols with them. In the end, they moved the insignia farther back to where all they'd be doing is punching holes through open space.
  24. John, every one of mine are earmarked. Its a great kit with the only tricky part being the center section and setting the correct dihedral.
