  1. You guys with your Iwatas make me wonder... I still use my ancient Paasche VL, but bought a fancy Grex at the Nats last year, but so far it's still in it's box....
  2. Yup it is, and to make it even more interesting, it’s a Bristol Mercury engine, so each cylinder exhausts into the collector ring, which is the leading edge of the cowl, and the cowl is a sorta NACA speed ring which almost free floats behind the exhaust collector. Nothing radical, just typical early war British radial shenanigans. I think the Beaufighter, Beaufort, Blenheim, Halifax, Swordfish, Albacore, Skua, and most other radial Brit engine installations were the same, with the cowl leading edge always being a hot meta, copper, or steel color The issue comes with having zero alignment pins, zero support, etc. nothing too far out to align, but it involves making a jig, and I was deep in my Lanc build at the time and couldn’t be bothered. I’ll haul it out and finish it one of these days, when I feel like doing some problem solving.
  3. Yeah, I have a Silver Wings kit about 2/3 finished. The engine and cowl drove me nuts so I put it aside for a bit to collect my thoughts. I absolutely love the early war Polish designs. Those folks fought like demons until just overwhelmed, and the P.11C was a 109 killer. It looks benign, but it had a mighty sting
  4. Not taking 36 to Vegas
  5. Lanc, a Racer, and possibly something more... I thought of doing the perfect T-28, but too much on the go. Gonna plan B-36 for Omaha. N
  6. Phil, get on out here. We’ll make you feel at home
  7. Has anyone heard of when the availability of this one will be? This will be an IMMEDIATE build for me. Along with the IAR developments, it’s one of my all time favorite WW.2 fighters.
  8. Gus, my PLAN is to drop the ramp. most that have been built were done that way as well. That way, if I don't use enough noseweight, a 1/32 pallet or two of "freight" will fix that proble. Also, I'd really love to drop those huge flaps. It's been done a few times as well.... I expect it'll be a bit more of a chore
  9. I just found my true Grail Kit. One I had pretty much given up hope of ever finding, yet here it is, the truly amazing, mind blowing, and stunningly arse end-ugly C-7 Caribou. No, it’s not an LSM per se, but it’s the largest model of it available anywhere. I’ve been looking for literally years, and finally, after a tip from a good friend, I snagged it off Ebay Australia and I got it today. To say I'm psyched would be an understatement. This is a vac kit with all resin details included as well, and a full book of RAAF decals, enough to recreate one of every Caribou operated by the RAAF. Anyone who's seen one of these perform is awed by what it can do, and it's bigger brother the Buffalo, is even crazier. Take off and land in 650 feet at full gross....
  10. I actually like this. It closes the circle for the P/F-51D so I can do my preffered postwar stuff.
  11. You have the kit, Ryan? I’m not easily one impressed, but these things impressthe crap outta me. Upgrade kit gives optional canopies, teal parts, and a different decal sheet with PE
  12. I think the model needs metal gear. I taped one airframe together a few years back, and it makes a 1/32 P-51 look small. But I thought so highly of these, that they’re in my “to do” pile
  13. It’s a big model when done
  14. Yeah, crack one of yours open, Ryan!
  15. I like it the idea of a world class build of a basically snap together kit
  16. I like these cool builds. This just oozes awesomeness.
  17. Cool stuff. Never been a real Iron Maiden fan, but I appreciate their contributions to the rock community. This’ll be one nice build when done.
  18. This is looking amazing!! I must try AK colours for Soviet stuff
  19. The Soviets had “Barf Green” in their cockpits and we had “Puke Blue” and “Babyshit Brown” on the walls and floors of our barracks
  20. Most was bought when available new. Some is traded for, and others are purchased. I’ve let much of my mainstream IM kits go, and have concentrated on resin and limited edition stuff. Like the Fisher kits. As good or better than any IM kits out there, but are very limited, and resin. Plus, today, they’re unavailable unless you wish to pay huge eBay prices. Dale, deals are out there though. Example, I bought a Fisher “Red Baron” racer kit for $165.00, which was less than the kit sold for new. But it was basically “Johnny on the Spot” when it was listed. Theres a Fisher Panther on there now, but they want 300+ US for it, and the kit was 180.00 brand new. Same with the F7U Cutlass, the ugliest carrier fighter jet aircraft ever built, and it sold for 400.00+ US. It was under 300 new. Just watch, and when something comes available, bid like you want to win it. BIN if possible. Or, just wait till I croak. Smitty and Harv will dispose of them...
  21. I’ve been slowly getting rid of my mainstream IM kits and going 100% resin and limited release stuff. here’s a small sample.
  22. Yes, I'm quite used to epic fails, but mostly because I truly enjoy taking some really crude and unrefined old resin half kits and attempting to make winners of them. I usually win, but occasionally there is one seriously epic crash and burn
  23. Epic fail would be my result!
  24. I wish there was a "love" button instead of just "like". I'm building mine in my mind right now.....
