I didn’t dream about it. She did. I dutifully set out to slay the offending marauder. It never dawned upon me that tarantulas don’t climb walls around here. And most tarantulas here are someone’s pet.

Tamiya Mossie build resumed
Clunkmeister replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I’m not a member of the built Tamiya Mossie club yet, John, but one of these days... I expect to go OOB as well. I like mine closed up anyway, but I’ll learn from yours -
Last night at zero dark thirty my wife wakes me up in a panic, saying that I gotta kill a huge spider climbing up the bedroom wall. Half asleep, I dutifully leap into action, run and get the flyswatter, and when I return 10 seconds later she hollers that how in heck do I expect to kill a huge tarantula with a flyswatter? Go get a shovel! Now, I’m wide awake. I’ve never seen a local tarantula climb a wall. They’d fall and burst open. maybe I better get my pistol because this might be something sinister. Meanwhile, no sign of giant man eating spider, I pull the curtains back, nothing. Look on the floor, nothing. Check all around. Nothing. Absolutely zero sign of that dastardly arachnid. She was dreaming and woke me right up in the middle of the good part of a great dream, dangit. I can’t believe we’re both going senile at once. No booze involved, just cold and flu meds. Freaky. Who says you can’t take a trip and never leave the farm....

Tamiya Mossie build resumed

Looking good, John. I burned out even on my HK kit after awhile. There is SO muchinternal; stuff plus PE, I just got fried. But you made it much farther than I did, and I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished sometime in the future. -

I'll be honest here. I'm trying to figure out how to so some weathering and wear to a solid OD green vehicle so I can break up the monoptony. This is literally my first ground vehicle since I built a Tinkertoy tank as a three year old. -
It's nice to see the USAF doing that as well. The Canucks and Brits do it as well, but dang that's good looking.

HB Models B-24 Hints, Tweaks, Tips
Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in Modelling Discussion
The HK Lancaster was the only brand new kit I’ve ever jumped into with both feet, and even with that one I ended up bugging every possible AM source until they gave me what I wanted. Ha! Now they see me coming and run the other way. This kit’s been out awhile and I’m ready to start thinking seriously about it. Mike Swinburne and I have been swapping ideas, so...... hmmmm But, first things first, I’m knee deep in an HPH B-36 build, and a Fisher Skyraider Guppy conversion, so the big Lib will wait a bit, but the Lib has been a favorite of mine my entire life. Something about Consolidated-Vultee birds... B-36, now this... I look forward to this sinful pleasure. -

Yep. I never had the rear view come through right away. That’s the goofiest of issues I’ve ever seen. -

I have a bending jig as well, so I was going to attempt bending music wire and drilling through the mount... -

I’m looking at your engine(s) and call me blind, but I don’t see an issue, although I’m not sure what to be looking for. The intake manifold is on the rear of the engine and I’m staring at the crankcase gearboxes. I must be blind. edit: ok, duhhh, I never had the rear view pop up the first time I looked. OK, I getcha now. Now ain’t that the goofiest of issues... -

One think I’ve noticed in all the builds shown online is that the tailwheel strut can’t hold the weight of the model, and as a result, the strut and wheel will splay to one side. Now, I was going to bend one go match using piano wire, but maybe the SAC tail strut might be better than the kit part? -
No PE for my Trumpeter P-47 razorback cockpit

You gotta cool them negative waves, dude. It’s messing with my zen. Codeine cough syrup! woof woof, that’s my other dog imitation. -

No PE for my Trumpeter P-47 razorback cockpit

Yes, I had thought that, Carl. But the issue is, I need to figure ouit what else I need from Hannants today, as it's well below their minimum order threshold. -

It's a conspiracy I say!!! Where's my tin foil hat! -
Apparently I'm OFFICIALLY barred from incorporating any Eduard cockpit PE in my Trumpeter P-47 razorback build. It's out of stock at Sprue Brothers and Squadron, so I've tried THREE different times to order a set on Ebay. Supplier #1: after a week's wait, get an email from the supplier, "our counts were wrong and it's actually out of stock. Refund coming." Supplier #2: "After pulling the product, we found the frets to be damaged, so we will be refunding your money." Supplier #3: "We regret to inform you that despite showing it in stock, it actually isn't. Refund coming"
