  1. OMG Smitty! I just busted out laughing
  2. Gentleman Jack and Billy Bong say. Like Wow, man!
  3. You ain’t gonna take the bait, hmmmmm?
  4. She don’t stick around to much... you don’t know Pam was down there clinging to the earth so you don’t fall off?
  5. Well, a bit more information searching finds that all postwar RCAF Lancs used block tread tires, not the wartime smoothies as the kit contains. And there’s a scoop on the starboard side of the fuselage for cooling air. I expect for the electronics amidships... no real issue there, I’ll carve one of those, but the wheels might be an issue.. Rear observer windows are not flat as I thought, but domed out. Hmmm
  6. Fargging eyesore! Those lousy cork-soakers! Quote from “Johnny Dangerously”
  7. It’s got more holes and divots in it than a Trumpeter kit
  8. It never ceases to amaze me how far these big Mercs were ahead of their time. So many of the design of these engines were considered "cutting edge" technology in the 1950s. Each time I build one of these models, I shake my head in amazement. Stunning work as usual, Mike' It gives me an idea as well. I have the Shapeways Fokker D.ll wing warper skeleton, and didn't Classic Airframes or Rodent just come out with a D.ll wing warper as well? Hmmmm...
  9. Yea yeah yeah, go ahead and laugh there, maestro. I’ll chuck it in my drill and turn it into a decent radome.
  10. Might be a touch wide, but we’ll slim it down a bit.
  11. Let it harden overnight, then we’l see If we can carve it to look like this
  12. Well, I certainly ain’t Paul Fisher, but it came out in one piece.
  13. Well, a quick look found nothing really even close to being suitable. A pill bottle was to wide, so,.... let’s cast a cylinder in a pill bottle, use Pam to keep it from sticking (het, it works with my pancakes and vomlets, then get out the Drexel and start carving
  14. I'm looking around and exploring options for the prominent ventral radome. I actually thought it's be an easy "make", and it should be. I can just form one from plastic or a block of wood, but first I'm looking to see if there are any plastic forms that'll give the flattened dome look of the end. The barrel portion is no problem. Of course, I don't have exact measurements of the original, nor do I have any close up pics, but I think I can "eyeball" this close enough. I think maybe a pill bottle for the barrel, and carve a cover out of wood. It's a "one off", so fill the grain and finish it. Not perfect, as I think the original is translucent, but I don't even know that for sure.
  15. It'll build into a decent model I'm sure.
  16. That Mi-17 is what I've been waiting for. But I'll definitely get the 60 year scheme.
  17. I'm open to whatever day for dinner. Last year we did Friday, one other year, we did Thursday. Then a bunch of us went to dinner instead of paying stupid money for a bowl of chili and tacos, or whatever they served. It'd be cool if we can hook up with the Tamiya and Wingnut bunch again.. I also know Glen and Floyd should be there as well. How many from TOS are going? I I haven't heard much other than Tim and Brian aren't.
  18. I’m looking forward to their F-14D when it arrives. Flaps down with wings extended...
  19. Who’s there this year, Smitty? Blues, T-Birds, Snowbirds? Patriot Jet? Should be a great, and LOUD week.
  20. I need at least another three Eduard E-1s. That’s the kit of choice for conversions, it seems, and I’ve got a few to do. Theyve all just dried up. Some guys must be sitting on thousands of these
  21. Found this pic of the new Trumpeter Mug-31! The Hobbyboss B-24 team is helping with the CAD.
  22. I'm with Ryan on this one. This machine must have been almost as likely to kill it's crew as it was to kill something it attempts to bomb. I can't imagine trying to land this thing sitting 30 ft in the air and unable to see the actual ground while you try to set this behemoth down on four bicycle wheels while travelling at 45 mph. And if you screw up even in the slightest, it'll turn over on you and you'll smear your face across the airfield.
  23. Carl, I have a Tamiya Spitty in my stash, so I'll check. Actually, I have one of each of the three versions, so hopefully I'll be good for three of the four engines. I'll let you know, sir.
  24. And it was pointed out to me that postwar Lancs used a totally different style of exhaust stub. Much more oval and open, instead of the flattened style with the divider bar. The little things keep popping up. Did a quick check, and there doesn’t look to be anything close available on the aftermarket. P-51 is a totally different style and Mossies used a Siamese style. Maybe two stage Mossie? Gotta check.
